I like and dislike that things are going this fast. I hate that every "rich girl" story has to have this obstacle. Especially, in a great wholesome story like this! But if they're going to insert drama and angst, I want it to linger a bit more lol. BUT we must eat what we've been served, and I am glad Eiji showed up and gave the MC the push he needed.
Every rich girl and famous family girl 101 basic setback ...

Of course parent needs use " business " card

But later use " we actually love you and care of your future " card..

You can read million of this series and 99.99% of them will use this bloody same setting ...include this one

Eiji is a great friend, everyone needs someone like Eiji in their lives!

I am glad Souta is not whining around and addresses the elephant in the room as fast as possible.

Im not sure how I feel about this,

how do they know in the first place,
saying its ok to trample over someone conviction because you think they will be happy with you is peak selfishness and self aggrandizement,
he got over it just after a pet talk, well that was easy

what Im trying to say is that an already unrealistic trope is even more unrealistic here, Im veteran at this point, I read many of the rich girl bullshit plotlines and this one was really badly executed

I mean, Nagi herself all but confirmed that she wants to be with Souta, but feels obligated to her family.
Sure her conviction is born out of that obligation, but she's clearly not going to be happy separated from Souta like this - so him at least putting up a fight for her/their sake makes sense and would be justified.
The worst that could happen for him is the parents shut him down, but at least he could say he tried and wouldn't wonder "what if" forever, in doing nothing.

And on some level he knew that, and Eiji stepped in and verbalized & affirmed it for him. He needed a final 10% push to get him out the door and to put up that fight for Nagi, is all.

Not saying this isn't a tired trope and I'm not saying it's an incredibly well-written example, but while this is certainly some level of selfish on his part (liking someone is always on some level of selfish, let's be clear), it's not like he's in the dark about where Nagi's heart lies in all of this and only acting solely on his own selfish whims.

Get you a friend like Eiji who cares enough to smack some sense into you.

I'm glad it seems this isn't going to be dragged out in any manner, if we're jumping to Souta confronting her & her parents in less than three chapters from the point Nagi said goodbye to him. The pacing makes me feel far less conflicted about introducing this particular plot point.

And it sorta makes sense - it's an easy way to install drama into the narrative, while addressing Nagi being adopted, and also addressing her history of not speaking her mind or really having any sense of self-possession. Souta cracked her small world open, and now he's going to help her find her agency and ego when it comes to the direction of her life.

Yes, there might have been "better" ways to do so than invoke an arranged marriage plot device born out of a misunderstanding by her parents, but as-is, this is at least on-theme for a lot of this sort of story with a "well-bred ojou-sama" type heroine character, so it'd be familiar to long-time readers of the genre. Thus, it's a "safe" bet, and since it's not being dragged out and filled with multiple chapters of melodrama (at least it seems at this point), I think the author can be granted leniency.

I'm sure that given time, I could think of a different way to address Nagi's need to be more assertive and be okay with having wants and desires, but I think I've talked myself into being okay with how the narrative's progressing to hit those points, now.
Now this is a true friend who can tell you when you're screwing up which is just what he needs to go there and say how he feels
