So much tonal whiplash in this series. The first half was kinda painful to read...like, why does everyone have to be so creepy about Susie? Apparently of any age. It's gross.
Then suddenly crazy action out of nowhere, but it was so fast paced it was kind of confusing. And like..."you idiots don't know how to use this! Now go do this other thing, I would never tell you to do a thing you couldn't do! Except for 30 seconds ago!" Reminds me of the Portlandia BSG sketch. "No, I need you here! Now get out of here!"
Also this isn't this story's fault, but I'm kinda sick of creepy vampire enemies in stories. Where they're like, "oh, we're so precocious and elegant but also we eat children." It's just kinda contrived. Like gee, I wonder if they're going to be overconfident and taunting.
