Sadly it was obvious once you realize how DOGSHIT the King and Prince were, that Allen likely realized it was "inevitable" even HE suspected what happened at the Castle to happen when the Duke still held hope the King wasn't a POS (Especially since it would be a BETTER peace offering after what his son did to grant his request involving Allen! The fact he didn't and even got hostile when they "presented the head of the Imperial Prince" after he tried to move the goalpost mad this VERY clear he was unfit for the throne! Allen did FAR more past the Call of Duty to deserve more then a mere Knighting! King made it OBVIOUS he was the type to not make a Commoner into a Noble no matter what because it's easier to exploit them where as a Noble, he'd have to give SOME account to them! A Commoner is one thing compared to a Noble! And he already wanted to steal Allen for himself or make it so if he couldn't exploit him NO ONE CAN, hence the precaution of moving his mother out the Capital before they remember he HAD ONE within their walls)

Of course the other factor was "That witch" and well, lets just say we're about to see how she made what he tried to prevent in the OG Story "PALE in comparison" to what she's going to cause!

Another fine example of "the evils of CHARM magic!" Allen is going to end up fighting people he REALLY didn't want to fight, worse in that it only works if you have even the SLIGHTEST nice feeling towards her! Which is why it works so well as she's "considered the Saintess" so any average Joe is going to think POSITIVE of her when intially meeting her.....this leads to a fight between Allen and his mentor who is among her VICTIMS! It won't work on those who are Neutral or Hostile! So anyone on their side are already Hostile towards her. But those not in the know like his Master don't know yet and get CHARMED! Ana shows her stuff as her AWAKENING, also awakened her as a Saintess, funny enough her ICE can "remove CHARM" as they'll find out! OTherwise there's no way to remove it and free the individual

Technically, "prevent a civil war" was the method his dumb kid brain came up with for achieving his goal, not the goal itself. His actual goal was just to protect the people he cares about, and we saw him take steps toward that in the previous chapter by giving a bunch of people a "get the hell out now, shit's going down soon" warning.

while i understand that allen was both a student and did a great accomplishment in the past battles, i'm still surprised at how much actual work they give him. it's not like he's suddenly a general with decades worth of actual combat knowledge, able to come up with strategies for their army or against the royality, he's more of a guerilla kind.

My worry is the author has forgotten how to write romance the same way. Villager A is a bit of a comfort romance for me - I find such a genuine warmth to it.

Obviously! For now they have to prepare for a Civil War! Right now the King is Rallying all Nobles to act on his behalf in destroying the Duchy! Unlike in the OG story where he BROKE Sacred Hospitality when the Duke PROTESTED about what the POS Prince did to his daughter (where he had him killed on the spot, this time it was prevented because Allen saw it coming because of the OG story and REALIZING seeing the Duke's TRUST in the King HOW he was able to successfully kill the Duke and destroy the Duchy as he did in the OG story)

What's worse is "The Witch" as they utilize her "Charm" to full effect, to get Charmed, you have to have a POSITIVE opinion of her BEFORE she applys it, otherwise it won't work, POSITIVE can be ALOT of things, including "trusting her because she's the Saintess!" which is how they recruit their "Soldiers" so MANY are brainwashed Saps, worse is Allen's Mentor when he first started out as a Adventurer is among the Number! They will fight later.....BUT WAIT THERES MORE! Worse thing is they can't be UN-BRAINWASHED......till Ana's own Saintess powers allow this to happen that is!

Yeah, but not by much and even here in America, you have to have a VERY good reason to do so! In cases like say Ukraine at the moment, it makes sense as they are being invaded, and here in America, the most likely scenario would be if we get invaded the same and personal are needed, otherwise, no reason to do so!

After disasters in Wars that DEMANDED Conscription, namely "Nam" it's no surprise those laws came into being! That's the issue: the First World is not the Only World. At least one third of countries today still has conscription, it is a very current thing, like war itself.
