Can't help but feel like Mai bailed on the date with work as an excuse.
Could easily be she really did get held up, but.

But Ajisai got her date, though it would seem her feelings are still one-sided. Rena, lacking in self-worth as she is, has resolved to at least recognize that some part of her is "good" in Ajisai's eyes, but I don't see anything really moving forward for her while she refuses to face the big problem in front of her.
I wonder if she'll get a "make-up" date with Mai next, where this scenario mirrors itself again, and Rena is left fully torn between the two of them. And that still leaves out the rest of her polygroup.

I get how hard it is to internalize that other people can love you when you don't love yourself, though. Luckily there's a group of girls who can work to convince Rena that she's worth the time of day, so the trick will be Rena actually coming to grips with it, before she ends up pushing them all away with her behavior and mindset and they give up (I don't see that happening, but.....well, I can attest to it).
