I would say that Waku is in the running for greatest romance manga MMC ever.

He's new to all of this and he's a bit slow on the uptake sometimes but he doesn't let his own issues get in the way and he doesn't jump to any conclusions. He just takes the time to figure out what's going to be best for Oura, then that's what he does.

It likely helps though that a genuine smile from Oura is definitely a reward worth working for.
