Not the worst chapter of the arc. We got some good characterization for Shiratori in that she's willing to put in the actual work rather than just saying she likes Okarun. It just feels a bit bad because the author has been building up Okarun and Momo for the whole series, and it feels like this amnesia arc is an attempt to pivot.

It just feels a bit bad because the author has been building up Okarun and Momo for the whole series, and it feels like this amnesia arc is an attempt to pivot.

It's not a pivot at all. It's just ending the Aira and Jiji subplots. Okarun obviously doesn't like Aira romantically and Momo feels calmer because she doesn't have to see Okarun (the one who makes her chest feel tight). The reason they separated on this trip was because Momo felt uncomfortable with her feelings towards Okarun, the jealousy she was feeling last chapter. The point of the chapters title will be that Aira and Jiji are great friends but not romantic partners.

I know we'll use this arc to fully end the Aira and Jiji pinning but it wasn't needed. They've decided to drag the Momo/Okarun romance as long as possible lately out of some fear; so it's not a surprise that we're using amnesia explicitly as yet another excuse to run from the confession they both already made 70 chapters ago. I'm just hoping this arc is the last delay and by the time it's done Okarun and Momo are dating as they should've been already. We don't need another random event to coincidentally separate them for 70 more chapters.

I wonder, is Okarun somewhat lying to Shiratori, and hiding his true feelings?

If the hint from Ch.228 is right, then Okarun is the holder of "The Adventures of Pinocchio".
Hinting that "lying" is part of his powers and probably comes naturally to him.

I mean, if Okarun already has some sort-off power even after losing "Turbo Granny's" powers, then he should have lost that power back in Ch.169 when he yielded to Saint Germain, but he didn't because he wholeheartedly lied.

Man, it’s lowkey a little frustrating seeing how much Aira has developed, and how much she seems to genuinely like Okarun, knowing she has literally zero chance of being with him.

And why is Jiji and Aira taking advantage of an amnesia situation when both of them are different levels of aware of Momo and Okarun's feelings for each other? All of them are acting weird this chapter because it's being a bit forced for the "shock." That's part of why it feels pretty mechanical but I wouldn't be worried about it beyond that.

I would have rathered they confessed and were rejected without amnesia or have them deal with Momo and Okarun confessing their relationship to the group. This method makes them look bad just for the same outcome. Sometimes series do something because it seems interesting and that's fine but it's an issue when the writer isn't fully aware of how actions imply characterizations. You can't have Aira and Jiji make these moves while still treating them as purely friendly. It's debatable behavior from both of them, even though it won't end well for either of them anyway.

OK but Life up north fell off hard once the MC and his girl started dating. Got cancelled not long after. That one 30 year old example is definitive proof that you can never replace the "will they-won't they" suspense and any work where the main couple is settled will get canned. So the author is in fact right to treat us all like morons with these endless excuses, he just doesn't want to end up homeless. Next up, Okarun gets amnesia.

Don't give him ideas. He made her randomly turn into a pixie, then immediately followed that up with random amnesia just for her. At this point I wouldn't be surprised if, right as she regains her memories and is about to accept his confession from 70 chapters ago, Okarun turned into an ogre and lost his ability to speak for the next arc.

A girl who's willing to learn your hobbies is a keeper. Author really wants us to feel conflicted since Momo is just as kind but was introduced earlier.
