Ok, If this series actually gets to that point I would love for the series to continue with Selen being the new protagonist.

I don't know if many or any other series that does this aside from Desert Punk, and another fantasy romance series I had forgotten about till just now... can't remember the name, old 53 volumes (think I got through 37) named after the second main character.

The first first main character was the mother and it was about 20 volumes with her, then the daughter takes over and starts her life as something like a pirate, before getting entangled with all sorts of people.

Forgot my love of these well written complex worlds. I should time this one again (if I can find it) and try to finish it, and Twelve Kingdoms again.

Took several hours, but I found the comic. Princess my memory of it wasn't exact, but it has been on a long hiatus due to health reasons. It is 31 years old by this point. Guess I got the volume count mixed up with the novel The Moonlight Sculptor.
