yes, this happens often with anime adaptations of manga. Mangaka have page count limitations because usually they are sharing space with other manga in a magazine which only has so many pages they can print. So a mangaka can’t show everything they want to show, sometimes. Most mangaka who get a anime adaptation consult closely with anime production teams, and it sometimes gives them a chance to redo or add things to flesh out events or characters more that they weren’t able to do in the manga. This happened with Frieren quite a bit too, especially in regards to Fern recently.

as if that kind of stuff never happens in real life, plenty of people nowadays have been doing poly relationships, I for one have a wife and we have a girlfriend, and I have a con friend whos been in one long before myself
