It was trying for the drama and intensity of, “The onus is on his friends to return the OP power and THAT is the true OP power.” If he died before the power came back or they took too long to defeat the fake, then it’s all over.

You get a 600 year old revenge witch who was like 2nd in strongest after MC come back
She steals MC's power and lets him live
All she's done is attack the school

I'm surprised there was no Army of creatures
Surprised she didn't destroy any kingdom
Surprised she didn't kill ALOT more people

In a way what I'm trying to say is this is like if thanos or some big bad of a story shows up and instead of destroying new york they go and HALF destroy a small village, it just feels like a waste of time like wtf......
like she said she really fucked up BIG time by not killing MC

All in all this arc is to me is a complete letdown

I honestly feel it's a complete contrivance since I expect there to be some talk no jutsu incoming. It felt like she was built up a bit too much to just get washed immediately but honestly what else can we do with MCs powerset.

Nice to see the author knows the MC isn't the one who has to defeat everything and the ladies are allowed to get some awesome moments in. Also nice that Rose wasn't written as an arrogant fool who left him alive to toy with him and it was due to Elea pulling of a heroic rescue despite injuries hat led to him still being alive. tbh i prefer the development of the manga now compared to the WN

at least the fight between mc and witch is better written compared to the WN where the witch got flatten right away without stealing mc power
and the manga give more role/action to the harem too

More like Thanos coming to earth, getting his magical glove, then snapping his fingers - but instead of 50% of all beings (or was it humans only? no clue didn't watch it yet) insta vanishing (making you wonder how many fetuses dropped to the ground, or how many preggo women lost their babies) only like few people died in some random school, probably the most NPC people on the whole planet whose death wouldn't even matter much.
