When the boys talk happened in this chapter, I noticed that Hero Tsubasa's remarks about Rita were extremely dishonest. Tsubasa described their initial meeting as if it were an absolutely boring event where she showed up and picked some fruits. From the description that he gave the Prince, it gave the impression that they were complete strangers except for the fact he had seen her before.
What actually happened was that she suddenly appeared in his life like a goddess, utterly charmed him, and mistook him for a hero. He then proceeded to leave everything behind to go and find her and woo her. To prevent this from going awry, he specifically became a hero to impress her when they met again.
In the boy's talk, Tsubasa was basically treating the prince as a romantic rival. He presented their meeting in such a boring manner so that the Prince would not dig for further details, and immediately ended the conversation to avoid explaining things further. Here is the situation this was intended to avoid. Suppose you were a girl that talked to some guy for about 20 minutes at the bus station, only to go home and find out that he followed you all the way to your hometown. Sounds gross right? Tsubasa has figured out that the best way to play this situation is by lying and saying their first meeting wasn't that special, that their second meeting was a coincidence, and it is completely natural for him to play the hero and impress her by doing so.
Honestly, this is S tier love triangle writing and I am thrilled by it.
