He's carrying a taser because in our world he'd be a cute young girl and I've gone on enough dates to know that SOME girls in our world carry around tasers or pepper spray in their bags.

This isn't a case of toxic masculinity but rather the usual anime trope of yandere girls being flipped exactly to be a guy instead and you don't like that. Literally nothing he's done in this manga is something that hasn't been seen in other manga and anime with a female yandere.

Hell if I remember correctly, Nino from 5Toubun tazed and drugged the MC of that series and she's one of the most popular girls in it. Honestly I seriously doubt he was going to rape her just based on genre conventions alone (remember he's a genderflipped FEMALE yandere and in this world although he is a boy, his behaviors would be that of a girl). He would have probably taken compromising photographs to use as blackmail but honestly, what female yandere hasn't done that and worse to a male MC in none genderflipped romcom manga.

The Nagatoro comparison is most apt, at least early/webcomic Nagatoro before character development kicked in for both her and her senpai. That and a few other things. Point is, as psycho as this brat is, he probably still has simps going for him.

I read a few mangas and webtoons oriented towards a female audience and there are no shortage of male yanderes to be found. If they weren't appealing to those audiences, they wouldn't be so prevalent. You're not the target audience for a male yandere.

Netorare also encompasses situations where a crush or someone you otherwise would've been romantically involved with is taken by another.

Hell, there's even a weird subgenre of it where the person being stolen is the character's mom. Not (usually) because of incest, but the whole "her love / attention for me and our family has been replaced by her feelings toward NTRguy" - just so long as it provides the same mix of anguish / helplessness / feeling of being taken from.


Well, the "good news" here is that NTR goes both ways. "It should've been me" is inherently a gender neutral feeling, though both men and women tend to create more works where it's guys in both the stealing + stolen from roles.

The romantic/love feelings have to exist on both sides for it to be NTR. In addition to that, the person doing the taking has to do it coercively. Neither condition is fulfilled here.

I think you’re forgetting that he said directly that he was going to make their relationship an “established fact” (See the TL notes on the last page). Literally a fait accompli, which in these stories always means they’re going to have sex. Knowing him, he’d probably film it or take pictures even though she’s unconscious, to blackmail her into a relationship. He’s not misunderstood or extreme, he’s human garbage.

Also remember that she hates this man, she absolutely loathes him. How many female yanderes are the guy’s worst enemy? I don’t even get why he’s being called a Yandere. Where’s the “dere” exactly? It’s just been years of abuse, mistreatment, and cornering. He likes her? I’ve seen no evidence of that at all. Meanwhile he’s spending time with lots of other women, so how much can he like her?
