Interesting, we actually have a tangible link to the bigger plot with the reporter dad now, but Hidaka's actions aren't any clearer for it. Why have the dad rescued from death only to get the daughter to pressure him to stop his investigation? And what's the significance of all the previous cases to the bigger plot?

Also I was surprised when the cover of the mangadex page changed. Didn't realise the manga was still ongoing. Hidaka implies the next case will be the last, but it looks like there's a ton more content. I hope none of these are a major spoiler, so far the author has avoided that but the latest one feels like it says a lot?

EDIT: Went through the previous chapters and here's what we know so far

• The dad of the girl who was saved in the first case, who is also a former chief of police, met up with Hidaka based on info his daughter gave him, and Hidaka wanted to speak to him about something
• The culprit of the second case made a comment that suggested she was aware of supernatural powers
• There is a room with objects from the serial killers. The name changed when the future changed and Hidaka took the syringe. It's implied it wasn't there before and Hidaka wanted to get this.
• Godai is being pressured not to investigate the alternate present
• Hidaka wants Godai to stop his serial killing, whatever that means. He also has a pile of 999 skulls
• Kusuba, the not-murderer of the fourth case, was discharged from the military for beating up a superior officer who "was harassing his subordinates into colluding against their country". He still dies in the alternate timeline
• The island clan was massacred by some organ trafficking organisation, so that's a potential lead
• A man previous broke into Godai's dad's house and tried to steal something. He had a circular scar on his hand.
