JJK Moment with that final page, lol. I bet that Lilac's telling the truth and that Lotus is lying.

I figured I'd reread to understand things better.
Edelweiss's staff is on the island. Did it grant someone's wish?
Fia made some sort of promise with Cardinal. She wants everyone to get along like they used to. She also wants to talk to Lotus. She's stuck in the middle of the island.
Lotus wants to free people from the island. He disappeared one day from Isekailand over a century ago and is now on the island. Is violent (according to Shara). Claims Lilac made the barrier preventing Hunters from leaving.
Lilac made a different barrier around the northern area to protect the beastfolk living there. She doesn't want a tragedy that befell the island for the sake of outside humans to repeat itself. She denies making the barrier preventing Hunters from leaving the gate and claims Lotus did it.
Cardinal attacks people on sight. Beating her will close the gate (according to Lotus). Takeru made a deal with Lilac regarding her. Wants to destroy (Lilac's?) barrier.

Just from the fact that a Spirit is unlikely to lie, since that taints the contract, I'm more likely to lean towards Lilac being correct. Lotus is super weird to me, he's been "alive" for a hundred years, is a Saint, but hasn't shown his divine artifact. Assuming she's more right, and considering the fact that Humans invaded and started the conflict, I have issues that they're not saying some uncomfortable truths.

And Takeru as always is the MC and the answer to any and all problems, whichever side he sides with, they win.
But it's weird to me, that the author only shows Lotus saying Cardinal is the reason for the Gate. Doesn't quite feel like it's for efficiency sake. Makes me think Takeru was told something else entirely.

And technically this conflict has 4 sides. Lotus, Lilac, Cardinal, and Fia. Fia appears to be neutral, but that also represents a side.

Oh no. If we're to take Lilac words about the paradise being the resting place of a certain girl then we can come to the conclusion its Fia and the reason Fia cant move around freely is because she's dead and her spirit can only stay in certain parts of the island. It would explain why she wants everyone to get along as she wouldn't want people fighting over her special place. But who exactly is Fia?

Also regarding what Lotus and Lilac both said i do not think either are lying more they came to the wrong conclusions

and from demon lord looking like Edelweiss and present time Takeru using the zombie body, we could speculate that Lotus could be a fake too.

Crazy theory time. Lotus was isekai'd to this world like Takeru which is how he went missing. To escape he tried to open the portal before but failed which resulted in the harm Lilac speaks of. I think Lotus is tied to the world so he cannot simply leave- the dungeon needs to break open. This is his second attempt which now has the Cardinal as the boss- who was the previous? Fia.

Also think about the location of the portal. It's awkwardly in the air, even without the barrier very few could leave the Island willingly. It wasn't ever meant to be used to leave.

Fia was the one Lilac mentions as dead. Lotus used his Saint Staff to resurrect her unbeknownst to Lilac because he felt guilty. Neither Lotus or Lilac want to kill the Cardinal. Lilac because the Cardinal is innocent, and Lotus because it would stop the breakout. This is why Lilac uses her offshoots to deal with invaders before the Cardinal can, in order to protect her.

What's interesting is that Fia had some promise with the Cardinal to fulfill. So something more is going on with them.

My bet is on that both side don't know about Fia so they just thought the other side was responsible
