she bears the same responsibility, in the first place he wouldn't have been forcibly retired had she not invited her boyfriend to the place he wasn't invited to go
No she doesn't. There are reasons why people are charged differently during group crimes. She bears less responsibility as it wasn't her idea nor did she ACTIVELY push for it.
you do realize this is only phase one of them falling down right? why are you so in a hurry to assume this is the end of their suffering? this is a revenge manga 2nd, stuff like this ALWAYS has levels to the downfalls of the people who wronged mc, your first mistake was assuming early on that, that's it, that's not the fault of the author
I am not assuming that this is the end. I am complaining that Kaori got a dispropotionate punishment for her current actions.
yeah so what if it became only relevant this chapter? it's good they went straight to the point and just said it as it is, there doesn't need to be build up for something that you could just as easily tell in 1 chapter
You couldn't tell anything about this in the first chapter. The ONLY thing you could infer is that he has a lot of money. There is SOME lip service in chapter 2 and chapter 11.
However, there is almost nothing about Kaori's job AND it needed more build up if it was going to majorly affect the plot. Exposition dumping is bad writing.
It's clear that the general populous not knowing who he is, is by design, this is to preserve not only his privacy but for him to be able live life normally, also what kind of idiot just lets everyone know who their top dog is that can clear dungeons so fast? are you okay? you do realize if that info was public, forget the fans, he'd have entire countries scouting him if not want him dead to make Japan's standing weaker.
You are arguing for the sake of arguing at this point. Your initial point was that he was viewed as VERY VALUABLE in society. I pointed out that he clearly wasn't. Now you are saying that it is obvious that he wouldn't be valued in society because he wants to protect his ordinary life. Additionally, every non-adventurer in this story has a neutral to negative view of them. You can't say society respects them when they are REPEATEDLY mocked.

You can't have it both ways. Either he (and by extent) adventurers are highly important members of society or they are losers who everyone looks down on.
it actually does, because they can just say that MC was forced to retire because of her and still keep his identity secret, locked with an NDA for his identity which I'm sure is the case.
You completely missed the point. The point is that there was no scandal about the incident. Making up scenarios doesn't change that fact.
oh i actually do, there's already a wrongful termination done recently in a live service game, also what do you mean neither broke the law? did you forget that the terminal used wasn't even supposed to be there? the boyfriend actually did break the law and the company's rules, he for one forcibly abused his authority to just randomly terminate an adventurer he didn't like. I don't think you're very smart, please re-read chapter 1
You know what happened to the boyfriend? He got DEMOTED. Why did the guy who broke the law get a LESSER punishment than the by-stander?
it's irrelevant, either way she'll still get away with it because the person involved was just that important to the country.
please, before commenting use your head
Let me quote what she said verbatim:

"Yes, perhaps it could be considered wrongful termination. If you want to sue me, be my guest. But you see... even if it goes to court and the brand is ruined because of it, I refuse to forgive you."

It isn't irrelevant. The text literally says Kaori has a winning chance. At least respect the story you are reading enough to not make stuff up to justify your feelings.

she is quite literally an accessory to the crime, anyone with a brain knows that, doing something like that is illegal, she also didn't question his removal as an adventurer, the previous chapters literally punished their old classmate for something similar
I am not assuming that this is the end. I am complaining that Kaori got a dispropotionate punishment for her current actions.
she got fired, she wasn't banned for life in that industry, which btw a company especially in the context of Japan could easily do to you if you piss off the wrong people
You couldn't tell anything about this in the first chapter. The ONLY thing you could infer is that he has a lot of money. There is SOME lip service in chapter 2 and chapter 11.
wow congratulations you're reading, it's almost like that's how stories work, they build up on top of each other
However, there is almost nothing about Kaori's job AND it needed more build up if it was going to majorly affect the plot. Exposition dumping is bad writing.
just because you think it's bad writing doesn't mean it is, certain things don't need to be built up all the time especially not the opening to people's downfall
You are arguing for the sake of arguing at this point. Your initial point was that he was viewed as VERY VALUABLE in society. I pointed out that he clearly wasn't.
He is, listen just because you can't see why a country can keep the identity of their top dog secret while knowing the public name of that top dog not his real name, is really not on me
Now you are saying that it is obvious that he wouldn't be valued in society because he wants to protect his ordinary life.
no i do not, please read again, I'm saying he IS still valued in society, i have not once did i say that he isn't valued by society, just because they don't know the man behind the name doesn't mean they don't value the man
Additionally, every non-adventurer in this story has a neutral to negative view of them. You can't say society respects them when they are REPEATEDLY mocked.
the only examples we have are 3 idiots to hammer home how stupid they are
You can't have it both ways. Either he (and by extent) adventurers are highly important members of society or they are losers who everyone looks down on.
they quite literally are important to society, their entire energy, you know that thing that the world runs on? is obtained by adventurers
You completely missed the point. The point is that there was no scandal about the incident. Making up scenarios doesn't change that fact.
the top leaders and people who know mc know what happened, which is more than enough to punish people,
You know what happened to the boyfriend? He got DEMOTED. Why did the guy who broke the law get a LESSER punishment than the by-stander?
yes, he did, you know what a demotion to some far off place is? you're practically fired at that point / the company expects nothing from you, you will NEVER get your position back, please research Japanese cultural connotations with regards to how they do things you westerner.
Let me quote what she said verbatim:

Kaori doesn't have a winning chance, that's not how society works, that's not how people with importance to the world works, that's not how this manga is painted, we also know from the novel readers your delusion isn't gonna happen either way

The old classmate ACTIVELY blacklisted him. As you said, she was an ACCESSORY! She did NOT ACTIVELY contribute to his firing. Yet the story punishes her worse.
she got fired, she wasn't banned for life in that industry, which btw a company especially in the context of Japan could easily do to you if you piss off the wrong people
SHE got fired. The man who fired the MC only got demoted. That is what you call disproportionate.

just because you think it's bad writing doesn't mean it is, certain things don't need to be built up all the time especially not the opening to people's downfall
Just because you think it is good story telling doesn't mean it is. Exposting a character's back story in their second (arguably first real) scene is lazy and doesn't endear me to the character.

He is, listen just because you can't see why a country can keep the identity of their top dog secret while knowing the public name of that top dog not his real name, is really not on me
The manga has yet to show he is important outside of adventuring circles.
no i do not, please read again, I'm saying he IS still valued in society, i have not once did i say that he isn't valued by society, just because they don't know the man behind the name doesn't mean they don't value the man
You are conflating the adventurer's society with the general one. From what the manga has shown, adventurers are seen as lower class and unimportant.
the only examples we have are 3 idiots to hammer home how stupid they are
The examples of people who have negative view of advenyturers are:
the ex
the ex's friends
the initial reaction of the FeMC
the initial reaction of the FeMC's friends
the adults surrounding the MC when he was at school
The only people who view adventurers positively are other adventurers.
they quite literally are important to society, their entire energy, you know that thing that the world runs on? is obtained by adventurers
Yet they are looked down upon by society. See previous point for proof.
the top leaders and people who know mc know what happened, which is more than enough to punish people,
Unless you are implying the government itself got the ex fired (in which case I would say that it makes the story worse as it means that Maria has no agency) what does the "top leaders" have to do with a fashion magazine?

yes, he did, you know what a demotion to some far off place is? you're practically fired at that point / the company expects nothing from you, you will NEVER get your position back, please research Japanese cultural connotations with regards to how they do things you westerner.
Sure demotion means that you can ONLY get promoted via seniority and all your progress is effectively halted. However, being fired (especially from the top fashion magazine) is worse as it is effectively the same as being blacklisted. So you can't progress AND you can't earn a living.
Kaori doesn't have a winning chance, that's not how society works, that's not how people with importance to the world works, that's not how this manga is painted, we also know from the novel readers your delusion isn't gonna happen either way
Quote or at least prove the quote wrong. I do not care for "trust me bro" arguments when I quoted the manga. The future novel arcs or (your view on) the ways society in the real world works aren't relevant to the point as (from the boss' perspective) Kaori has something like a case for wrongful termination.

The old classmate ACTIVELY blacklisted him. As you said, she was an ACCESSORY! She did NOT ACTIVELY contribute to his firing. Yet the story punishes her worse.
we already know from the novel readers that the assumption that the punishment for the man is just as bad
SHE got fired. The man who fired the MC only got demoted. That is what you call disproportionate.
again moot point when the novel readers already confirmed what happens next
It is almost like my point was that there wasn't enough of a build up.
just because you don't like it doesn't mean it doesn't exist
Just because you think it is good story telling doesn't mean it is. Exposting a character's back story in their second (arguably first real) scene is lazy and doesn't endear me to the character.
moot point as it worked for other people
The manga has yet to show he is important outside of adventuring circles.
idk what else to tell you, they literally said this when they demoted the guy "they provide energy to the population" or something along those lines, if you still don't get how much more important energy is, you're just stupid at that point. the equivalent is the war on oil and soon the race for fusion reactors
You are conflating the adventurer's society with the general one. From what the manga has shown, adventurers are seen as lower class and unimportant.
??? I really don't know how to say this, but in the manga, the perception of the 3 idiots you see isn't really important, their bosses quite literally makes that clear, the VIP's already scrambled in a panic, just because you have idiots who don't see the importance of people that doesn't mean they aren't important to society. The manga hammers this down by showing just how stupid the 3 people are
The examples of people who have negative view of advenyturers are:

The only people who view adventurers positively are other adventurers.
that's clearly not true as world governments depend on them
Yet they are looked down upon by society. See previous point for proof.
they aren't, 3 idiots not knowing the importance of a group of people does not mean the society as a whole sees them as not important, if you look at the next chapter we already know that even the criminals make it a point to know who the top dog is so as to not mess with them.

Unless you are implying the government itself got the ex fired (in which case I would say that it makes the story worse as it means that Maria has no agency) what does the "top leaders" have to do with a fashion magazine?
clearly not, but they would side with the decision of the person who fired the ex

Sure demotion means that you can ONLY get promoted via seniority and all your progress is effectively halted. However, being fired (especially from the top fashion magazine) is worse as it is effectively the same as being blacklisted. So you can't progress AND you can't earn a living.
no it isn't, you can still earn a living elsewhere, i don't know where you got this idea you can't earn a living, sure it will be hard to get into the same industry again but you can quite literally still earn a living in a different industry, we also know from the novel readers that's exactly what the 2 ends up doing
Quote or at least prove the quote wrong. I do not care for "trust me bro" arguments when I quoted the manga. I would trust the novel readers as they have read the novel, your denial of the source material to make your flimsy points seem valid is already wrong to begin with since the manga is adapting that same source material

Ok. So let me get this straight. You are relying on what OTHERS have said about the NOVEL VERSION of this story to counteract every point I am making about how the MANGA is treating the story thus far. As such, you haven't read the novel at all. Nor have you realised that my quotes are from these current chapters. You really are just arguing for the sake of arguing.

GG. You baited me into replying when clearly you don't have any PRIMARY knowledge on what you are talking about.

yes, because it is relevant to the discussion and so far the changes from the novel to the manga have been very minor
As such, you haven't read the novel at all. Nor have you realised that my quotes are from these current chapters. You really are just arguing for the sake of arguing.
majority of your points can be countered by info we can already get from the novel, and common sense which you do not have, so the only thing we can rely on is info we get from novel readers.
there is quite literally no point to coming up with theories or what ifs or think about your interpretation of something when the story is already played out in both the manga and novel and very clearly for anyone reading to understand
GG. You baited me into replying when clearly you don't have any PRIMARY knowledge on what you are talking about.
i actually do know what i'm talking about, you didn't bother to counter a lot of it because you're just dumb, many of which needs common sense which is lost on you

Pretty obvious it's not a logical reason dude, it's an emotional one. She made it blatantly clear she hurt someone very important to the boss, the very person who was the only reason she was considered, so now the boss don't want her there anymore. It's not an issue, it just seems like you're trying to make her into a computer and not a person.
Also to add that she KNOWS this opens her to a lawsuit for Wrongful Termination, but made clear she doesn't care and will settle! Either way doesn't change that Kaori is out of a job and it's hostile that she can't use them as a recommandation either.

Karma wise it's akin to what her "Man" did to Raito, though unlike him, "she is not a self-made person" so while he can walk it off without too much care....she can't!

Story already acknowledge it was wrong and she was doing it to pay her back for what she did to Raito WITHOUT his permission or blessing. But doesn't change that Kaori "can't handle it when her own logic or better to say illogic & bad behavior get throw bac at her!" And it's not so GRAND when it's done to her (next to the fact that if she was doing this on RAITO'S behalf, it means he WAS a somebody after all! Remember also she saw that tv report showing the BBQ place she mocked back in CH1 was a place someone like her would have had trouble getting into, much less HAVING the entire place to herself! Now she fully KNOWS Raito is a big shot, and she isn't going to be happy when she finds out her BF KNEW but failed to tell her, likely because he KNEW she'd likely have REGRETS dumping a REAL Big Shot for a Small Fry like him! Funny part of it is "she actually didn't!" Even in her DELUSIONS she DID want things to work, though it was an ARROGENT belief that she wanted to just "put the cheating behind her and pretend it WASN'T!" Hence treating and blaming Raito and using the BAD REPUTATION OF ADVENTURERS and her OWN PERCEIVING of their dates as PROOF he was an Underachiever! Even her LATER stuff felt like she was QUAD Down as to not regret her choice....which makes what happened also later hurt so much, even though even SHE knew at that point while Excessive, she had it coming! But it makes her Character growth just awesome in my opinion!)

Why Thanks bud! I rant alot, it's what I do, I try to make it worth a read at the VERY LEAST (if you're going to read my TL; DR, I at least want it to be entertaining at least LOL)

Stop relying on the novel to justify bad writing decisions as this is an adaptation. Adaptations often (to their own detriment) change things or don't adapt everything. Additionally, Kaori's FUTURE actions do not make any CURRENT ill-fitting punishments retroactively good writing.

You clearly don't as you are reliant on the words of OTHERS. If you yourself read the novel then you'd have some leg to stand on. However, you didn't do that and you are basing the way the world works on SECONDHAND retellings of OUTSIDE (yes the novel is outside the scope of this manga) sources.

who are you to tell me what to do? right you're some rando on the internet, again just because you think it's bad writing doesn't mean it is,
Adaptations often (to their own detriment) change things or don't adapt everything.
and from what we know from the people who have read the novel, there was very little in terms of changes
Additionally, Kaori's FUTURE actions do not make any CURRENT ill-fitting punishments retroactively good writing.
it's still fitting regardless if you think it isn't, either way her downfall is guaranteed and if you have a problem about it write a doujinshi(this literally means fan work of an existing title btw) and pen one

the manga adapts the novel and is a viable source even if the source is someone else's retellings
also I did try to tell you my thoughts on the thing with the manga as references as well as parallels from how JAPANESE SOCIETY WORKS, BECAUSE THIS IS A WORK OF FICTION WHERE THE COUNTRY IS JAPAN AND THEY REFERENCE MODERN JAPANESE NORMS. You not acknowledging how that works is really not my problem, believe what you want, cry about it even

At this point it is pointless to continue as you don't understand that:
infodumping is the laziest way to justify someone's actions;
secondary sources (the word of novel readers) do not beat any primary source (the current manga chapters)
thus using the word of the novel readers against direct quotations of the manga is a losing argument
future novel chapters aren't relevant as the manga could change things/not get to those chapters
it doesn't matter what Japanese Society is like IRL if the word of the characters paints a contrary picture

I don't even like Kaori. I just think that it was a poor writing decision to unfairly punish her as that generates unnecessary sympathy for her when she is supposed to be an unsympathetic antagonist

just because you think info dumping isn't nice
the word of the characters quite literally does not contradict anything, it is by intention, the boss does not care and she knows even if found true, she'll still win and kaori will still be punished

you and like 2 or 3 people are the only few people even minorly being sympathetic to her, you are a minority trying to sympathize like some twitter loser with fake empathy

Did you even read the chapter?
"Even if the brand is ruined" means that her company would be destroyed by the court case. She doesn't think she'll win. Rather it is her being spiteful.

I love how you had to resort to a nebulous "majority" fallacy and name calling because you couldn't disprove my points.

it's an insinuation of a possible outcome that doesn't mean the brand would be ruined, court cases can go any way but if we're going at it with the context of the world they live in, the country they live in, the state of how systems are managed in the world they live in, no one, is stupid enough to just let someone close to and has ties to the highest rank adventurer in the country lose a court case over a hiring decision that was done purely because the mc's ex was the mc's girlfriend prior and no one is dumb enough to even try and anger MC by putting his close allies behind bars for something that happens in society more often than you think
She doesn't think she'll win. Rather it is her being spiteful.
no, she's open to the possibility of not winning and she knows she's spiteful and doesn't care, again since you likely do not know how society works, court cases do not always favor what's right or who is right on paper, there are many considerations before a verdict is passed and things can go either way. if you think that court cases internationally always go to the side of the victims, please look at actual court cases instead of running around yapping about how you think the world works
I love how you had to resort to a nebulous "majority" fallacy and name calling because you couldn't disprove my points.

I'm rather honest with my words, I find you stupid, if you want me to sugarcoat it, I'll be happy to, it's also not nebulous as we already have examples of Vip's even criminals engaging in human trafficking in the next chapter who made it a point to know who the top dog in the country is and knows they shouldn't mess with him and it's honestly amazing how you still couldn't see that, context clues exist, they keep adding to how important the mc is and make clear distinctions between who the idiots in the story are and the people that make it a point to know the importance of certain people,
in the ex's fling's re-assignment to grunt work, we are shown the main reason why adventurers are necessary in the world and why the top rank adventurer in the country is important
i've explained this already prior but you couldn't understand that
someone who provides and acquires the means to power the world they live it via magic stones
is important, this has been cemented twice already

the dreggs of society knows who he is so that must mean he's super important
Cope. Society, from what's been depicted doesn't value adventurers. All the adventurers that are well respected have other, more respected jobs. However, I bet you'll ignore that and bullheadly argue using other people's words again, NPC-chama.

All those weasel words just to argue for the sake of arguing.
and you're still not responding to any of them
but please go on and delude yourself to thinking it's only for the sake of arguing, here i'll even block you to ensure you don't think that, you're free to respond after or not, I'm done trying to make someone as close minded as you try to understand things from a different perspective
Cope. Society, from what's been depicted doesn't value adventurers. All the adventurers that are well respected have other, more respected jobs.
which isn't even true, again just because the 3 idiots didn't know how valuable they are that doesn't really mean that the rest of the world is like that and this will be cemented even further in the future chapters
if the dreggs of society fear you, that doesn't mean you're not important, you're important enough for them to not want to mess with you, but you wouldn't know any of that because you don't just use your brain and operate on "i'm superior and my thinking is the best"
However, I bet you'll ignore that and bullheadly argue using other people's words again, NPC-chama.
except that i didn't, i actually tried to stoop down to your level of stupidity
which is embarrassing

why is everyone in this so obsessed with never saying main guy was zero. Like theres no obligation to hide that info, but nah we gotta keep doing the whole dramatic "why is this such a big deal!?" shit.

I don't find it satisfying that the ex lost her job as we weren't given any inkling that she was horrible at her job nor was she active in getting the MC fired (though she did watch as her new boyfriend fired him). It feels like cheap wish fulfillment.
Are you fucking retarded?

Ok. Her boyfriend didn't blacklist him, only her friend did but that's beside the point as her boyfriend ONLY got demoted despite his actions (firing him) being much more devastating. The gf cheated on him and publically humiliated him sure, but I do not think that someone else fucking with her job is a satisfactory conclusion to that as (besides the owner knowing him) the MC had no hand in the action nor was there any build up to the result.

First off, she was a bystander to her boyfriend's action of firing the MC. She did not play an active hand in either his firing nor his blacklisting. So her cold attitude towards the whole incident is cold but it is not unemployment worthy.

Secondly, she does not value adventurers but that isn't inherently evil as it is the same as a family member saying that electricians aren't valueable and that he should be a lawyer instead. Sure she's a bitch about it but again I don't find it satisfying when a THIRD PARTY enacts "revenge" for the MC. Especially over the gf just being a gold-digger.

I am not upset because a woman is sad. I am upset because someone got disproportionatly punished for the actions they took. I would be happy with this result if she was playing an ACTIVE role (telling the bf to fire him) in him losing his job rather than her just being an ignorant ride-along about everything. The guy who came up with the idea AND executed it only got demoted. Hell, I would even be happy if it was the MC himself who got her fired because at least then he could be characterised as a bit petty and it would give him more depth.
You really love defending losers because you are one. Get a fucking grip.
