Oh. Gheer's dead.

I'm neutral about his death. I feel like the past arc set Gheer up to be interesting, easily more so than Raloud; his departure invalidates all of that, making the number of pages Gheeriv spent focusing on Gheer's mindset questionable. As someone who enjoyed Gheeriv, I am somewhat left wondering what the point was. I guess we will see if Raloud contributes anything to the story when he becomes a part of the main group.

At least Gheer's death still manages to conclude his character arc, and I suppose this is about as much as he can be redeemed. I would have preferred his character arc being continued because I think his character had room for more growth and development, but oh well.

Anyway, this chapter raises a question: why did Gheer turn to dirt after the demonoid was defeated? Does it have to do with the nature of magic, like how living things become mangled when they pass through a magic circle?

Unfortunately, Gheer never got his moment of redemption. And his relationship with Raloud just feels... bad. Imagine an abuser in his deathbed giving his victim some "parental" advice. Just really creepy. Raloud should learn better. Both of them weren't even ACTUAL family members, just a guy who brainwashed a kid to believe they were in such a relationship for his own gain, at the expense of the other.

Such a sour taste on what is supposed to be a bittersweet moment.

I liked Gheer too so this death was just ?????

They built him better than any other character in the series ngl so I find it hard to believe that he died just like that.

idk. maybe this'll all be for something. maybe it won't. we shall see.

I think either the author is buying time or trying to make us feel stuff by being like one of those series where main characters are killed off. I wanted comment about how we got a band together...

Probably something like that. Maybe staying in the magic dirt for too long fused him with it? Hopefully it will be a clue to something that will come up later.

I'm fine with the words he said but I feel like there should've been more effects to make it seem more 'real' like coughing up dirt. Avengers: Infinity War did it better and I was expecting something like that.
I've been saying this for a while but I'm still surprised how he didn't die from blood loss or something else.
