Oh. Gheer's dead.
I'm neutral about his death. I feel like the past arc set Gheer up to be interesting, easily more so than Raloud; his departure invalidates all of that, making the number of pages Gheeriv spent focusing on Gheer's mindset questionable. As someone who enjoyed Gheeriv, I am somewhat left wondering what the point was. I guess we will see if Raloud contributes anything to the story when he becomes a part of the main group.
At least Gheer's death still manages to conclude his character arc, and I suppose this is about as much as he can be redeemed. I would have preferred his character arc being continued because I think his character had room for more growth and development, but oh well.
Anyway, this chapter raises a question: why did Gheer turn to dirt after the demonoid was defeated? Does it have to do with the nature of magic, like how living things become mangled when they pass through a magic circle?
