Because her mom having an affair was hinted at, then the boy explicitly called it, and the girl didn't even dispute it so much as strangle him over his lack of tact in saying it out loud.

Then there's the fact that romance is a likely path for these two (their whirlwind date montage was pretty damn romantic) and when that's the case, "surprise, you two weren't related at all," is a well-worn path.

Finally, the last page promises "many 'secrets' hidden in this family" and the title's literally Secret Affairs, Hidden Truths. It'd be quite the twist if there were no twists.

If that's how things turn out, I'd hardly be surprised. But I WAS surpised by the fact that this was Good, Actually when I came in expecting slop. I have high hopes now.

I'll admit that it's abit of a chekov's gun. But her agreeing that it's a likely conclusion doesn't make it more likely to be true. And this entire chapter was built too much on the hook of incest being a roadblock of their relationship. The author doesn't have any good way to subvert that.

Interesting first chapter.
I think the only way it doesn't end up with an incest ending is
if their father and yuzu's mother had an arranged marriage, where both of the parties cheated on each other. They potentially had someone they loved way before they met each other and they both probably had an agreement to keep it a secret, hence why Yuzu's mom didn't act suprised when they told her, her husband cheated and also didn't mind having the MC live with them. Which probably indicates that she already knew. But to keep their family from crumbling they pretended like nothing happened and continued their life without any troubles.

It's just headcanon though.

This was a great opening chapter. Since it was main couple focussed, the wincest may not end up being just a tease like in so many other cases. Still upset about the Ruby/Aqua disaster ending instead of the romance ending.
