I dont like changing Guts from a Man against Fate itself, into the special unique existence. His whole life he fought against Fate, he was proclaimed as not a chosen one, to the point where Godhand decided to give him behelit anyway, just to see what will happen. As far as I remember, its been decades. His sword is demon slaying sword not because a wizard enchanted it, but because he slain countless demons with it.
And proportions on some art is just weird, like every part of him is comically large at the same time.

Imma wait for Evil Genius's translation. Page 21 has a typo but I am pretty sure it's supposed to be Astral and not Ethereal as well.
Astral means "star" and "ethereal" means non-material ie spiritual, so technically its more correct. But "astral" is more commonly used now, with the same meaning. At least its not "celestial" into "constellation".

This ain't it no more, the series Died with Miura for me
Miura clearly had something like like in mind since the beginning of the golden age when we see how Guts was born. They're following his notes. Only the execution might be a little different.
Also , for all we know, maybe being born from a dead mother isn't a unique thing in the Berserk universe. Maybe every time a child gets born at the same time the mother dies they are born with a foot in the ethereal world and are good at evading death, but only Guts , through being caught up in Griffith's evil-god-guided destiny , is now in a position to make full use of his potential.

Astral doesn't just mean "star". Are you familiar with the term called "Astral plane"?

The Astral plane is a theoretical realm of existence, intermediate between the physical world and heaven, postulated by classical, esoteric, and New Age philosophies.

In mystical and spiritual contexts, it refers to a non-physical, higher realm or a spiritual plane of existence connected to the soul, often associated with out-of-body experiences.

This is what Miura intended:

People seriously think Guts would be able to defeat Griffith without some power up? My man's entire body was breaking down and losing enthusiasm at points I'll be surprised if this manga didn't end with Griffith winning. Giving Guts a potentially unlimited regenerative body might be give him the edgy to fully use his armor.

The two things are not contradicting one another: he has always been both not a chosen one and a being of the interstice, the fish who causes ripples on the water surface with its jumps, as Skull Knight said in volume 17 iirc. Him being born from death was not only shown as the first scene of the Golden Age Arc but also repeatedly reminded to the reader, eg in the Skull Knight panels others have commented here. He is not a chosen one, he was not given special powers, he's struggling against fate through sheer will and by staying human, but he is able to push back against the tide because he can, from the physical realm which reflects the astral ones, affect the astral ones, which is what he needs to harm Griffith who is now rooted in the astral realm. This is what we had been waiting for, exactly the power up we needed, together with Guts finally raching maturity with full acceptance of his self.
Now we only need another power up to the Dragonslayer and I hope they'll use the behelit for it, as the element that allows the physical realm to reach out to the deepest layers of the astral one, a bit like Skull Knight has forget his own behelit sword..
