Tbh, that's not how I interpreted her. I think she did genuinely feel bad about it (notably, she made sure the monster got both of her wishes, eating churros and seeing Soap Lake). But, of course, she still did it.
I wholy agree... I was just taken by surprise by how calm and collected she was.

And while she doesn't come of as cruel in any way, her taking Hiraizumi's hand to distract her while passing her the poisoned drink can be read as a gesture of kindness to the monster who wants to experience romance... but also as coldly taking advantage of the monster's interest in Itou.
It's evident that Itou isn't happy that things have come to this. Reading the first volume, I don't think I could have ever imagined her killing a monster at all...

Itou desperately needs a hug, and also definitely not another monster popping out of the woodworks (seriously, how many of those are there, I am more and more convinced that we are approaching a "monsters become the new humanity" scenario)

There was something very interesting about what Fake Hiraizumi said there, though-
"Romance between monsters is pointless, right?"
I wonder...

Itou has always worn her heart on her sleeve and had almost unbounded empathy. Her earnest desire to be Human is her most surface-level attribute, but last chapter demonstrated how she's been very emotionally dialed in the whole series.

I still like that Itou's much more in-line with the Monsters in many ways, and yet wholly her own person to the point that Takahashi is learning from her, at this point. But, her tenderness in this chapter was kinda hearbreaking. She did....well, a good thing, and a kind thing, and a horrible thing, and I think all of those are simultaneously true even thinking of Hiraizumi as a Monster. I was surprised she wasn't crying at the end, but maybe that was her steeling herself for what she had to do, and endure.

Here's to a happy ending, in spite of it all.

Thanks for the TL.

Ah okay, I see what you mean. For sure, Itou has changed as much as Takahashi has during the course of the manga. (She even explicitly reflects on it in this chapter, concluding that her earlier attitude of being willing to die to be normal was wrong.) Whether that's been in a good way or a bad way, I guess is up to us.

The manga has done a great job of getting inside Itou's fucked up head and getting us to empathize with her; but at this point I don't think she deserves a happy ending and people were kinda right to shun her. The sad part is she'd probably agree with me.

Its like taking the dog out back and Old Yellering it... its hard, but it is merely a mercy killing. RIP 🥲

And I suspect that "Normality" is as good as a pipe dream by this rate, stand firm girlie.

This leave such a dilemma in me.
In the first place ofc I fucking hate this new monster inside Hiraizumi san body and want its dead since the og Hiraizumi is long gone….
But after seeing how normal she is after Ito pretend to accept her and how excruciating her death face is after knowing she been poisoned by the person she just blindly trust…. I wonder if this monster truly is evil or just being force by Mr N into this girl body, her simple wish like only wanting to eat churros make me feel like she didn’t even fully understand the situation itself and why she deserved to die just because the its the very nature of monster in this world to kill or be killed.
Even Ito herself feels conflicted about this murder shown by her blank out face when talking to Takahashi.

At least for the monster inside Takahashi body we know that the og Takahashi already died when it takes over her body so yea….

Sorry for yapping if in future chapter it’s proven that every monster living inside Mr N are evil or whatever and my dilemma is worthless lul.

Somehow this manga makes me feel bad for absolutely everyone. The humans who are killed by the monsters, the humans who don't even know their loved ones are dead, the monsters who are so desperate to live as a humans that they kill other humans, and itou who knows all of this and somehow has to retain her sanity

Wait, where is this monster even from again ? i thought it is part of the Sensei guy, like a clone that he both control. Did he just found one more monster or something ?
