MD is their advertising site. Block them from uploading here, and it doesn't matter how many sites they have or switch to; if they can't get suckers to find out about them, they can't make money.
Which is why it's a problem to just sit back and do nothing and let them keep uploading here, no matter how much you don't care and just want your speedscans.
Wow, you seemed to get a bit aggressive there at the end with your baseless assumptions about me.
First off, my "How stupid" comment was meant for the individuals/groups who keep doing this, not the people complaining about them doing it. If every time they do this they release more chapters, then there's no reason for anyone to rush to read them all right now. I have honed patience for releases over the ~25+ years I've been reading manga online back to my IRC days, so I'm definitely not a "speedscans" consumer as you say. Heck, I delay reading chapters released in parts until the entire thing is done, because I'd rather have the continuity.
Second, I was talking about wishing to report sites like theirs to those who could actually take legal action against them. I mean, releasing unauthorized translations is already kind of a grey area regardless of how you feel, but profiting off of some else's IP without their permission is another level of illegal that would be interesting to see them get punished for. Enough C&D orders and possible legal action where they need to pay legal fees on top of whatever damages/fines decided would definitely make popping up with a new site a bit less of an enticing idea. Unfortunately, there isn't always a clear cut process for doing such things and some have been complicated to the point of exasperation. Not to mention the possibility of unintended backlash against other groups who don't partake in these practices, which I don't have any interest in harming. It's kind of frustrating.
So I do agree that they need to be dealt with any time they pop up trying to do this, I just wish there was a more permanent/longer lasting solution than playing 'whack-a-mole' each and every time it happens.
