It just feels, again, like "confessing" is the goal. I think a final volume... another 5 chapters maybe, would have been good. It really feels like the whole point of the story was to find out who is the winner, and not the result of the growth and then why. Kind of like how 2.5D manga build it up until it finally happened. In this case, it was the very last 2 chapters, and then the epilogue. Things seem static too. The way we left things is the way things stayed after the time skip, we don't know much about anyone except "things worked out." What else did we learn from this ordeal? Oh well.

That's exactly it confessing was the goal that has been the goal the entire time he has said this time and time and time and time again in the manga.

I agree with the other comments. The ending is far too rushed, Honoka doesn't have much character growth and in fact not even much presence in the entire manga.

The author used so much time on himari, and none on her. Ok, she won but this is not satisfactory. And definitely rushed.

You nailed exactly what what was wrong with this ending and this whole last volume.

This was ass because Honoka didn't do anything worth the win other than exist and be an everygirl sweetheart.
We don't get any post-confession dating chapters because there is no commonality and compatibility other than "we were crushing on each other in middleschool and too dumb&shy to act on it" because neither character was given a real chance to develop that connection.

It's almost like it wasn't the main plot or something. Everyone that wasn't in the title of the manga is a side character they don't need more than who they are and why they are in the story.

I just realized something else that pissed me off about this one.

Tenchi works at a condiments maker. He makes ketchup. WHY THE FUCK ISN'T HE WORKING SOMETHING RELATED TO HIS PASSION FOR CLEANING? I guess that's cooking adjacent but WHY ISN'T HE DOING SOMETHING MORE RELATED TO COOKING?

which is all the more irritating because there was the perfect layup for "Himarizz opens up subbrand Mr. Sparkle". Tenchi makes his own brand of cleaning products as COLLEGE GUY CEO, and he and is best friend Hima actually see each other on a regular basis and talk shop.

I'd also complain about Honoka working a generic office drone job instead of something related to her passions but we don't know anything about her passions except she has crush on Tenchi.

If you want proof of how powerful the C O M A S T R A T is, look no further than this manga.

Honoka just got sick enough she couldn attend the ski-trip, not even a full coma, and it made he so powerful she was able to cuck the wealuth CEO of an international Makeup brand out of her Housecleaner, First Crush, and the Manga with her name on it.

The title and cover of the first volume speak volumes: this wasn't the original intention.
Perhaps the mangaka thought he'd have more time to develop the title's ship, perhaps he got tired along the way, perhaps he changed his mind, perhaps he wasn't able to manage time and relationships, perhaps inexperience, perhaps pressure from readers or the publisher... the fact is, the ending with Honoka as the winner was the only believable one.
Honoka didn't win because she was the best, but only because it was the only option.
Kanna, the only one who really tried, was never truly believable.
Himari never really tried, and the author, honestly, gave her far too much off-screen time for a protagonist.
I don't really care who "wins" in this genre of manga, honestly, but I can't help but think there was good potential and it was rather clumsily squandered.
