Akane and Nadeshiko both concluded they didn't want to rely on social pressure from marriage or parenthood to try to "justify" their relationship to society or advocate for Nadeshiko's human rights. Akane makes the argument that it would basically tie Nadeshiko down to her due to social convention, and even if she doesn't WANT to break up with Nadeshiko, she thinks the option existing is important. So, no, they very deliberately chose not to have science babies, not because they didn't want them per se, but because of philosophical reasons they're waiting.
For similar reasons, I'm curious whether Nadeshiko registered Akane or not. I see arguments for both, but I suspect the two would take opposite positions on the matter, but Nadeshiko would defer to Akane on not registering.

I was reading cancelling the wedding as still not 100% being certain that there was actual consent and not just another attempt to fulfill the ownership directive. Maybe with a good touch of "our love is strong enough we don't need that".

Science babies weren't a thing I knew I needed 100% want now that it's been teased.

That’s a good point. Obviously people are more concerned about the sesbian lex, but I’m proud that the ending gave Nadeshiko the autonomy to choose, on her own, whether she wants to get married or have babies. And given that she was introduced as just a sex doll, it’s honestly nice to see her now having a job like a normal person.

See, this manga was really about blurring the lines between humanity and machinery all along, and showing that even a robot can become their own person! Also partly about the hot sweaty lesbian sex too, but who’s counting?
