Reminds me of a case in Ohio where a woman left her baby alone for 10 days so she could go on vacation with some dude. The state in which the dead baby was found was so inhumanly cruel that the prosecutor said something like "Even animals take care of their infants better."

The woman ended up getting life.

Some people are just unimaginably heartless.

Not at all justifying it, but the beastmen children are shown to be difficult to deal with to the point where there‘s a whole government agency built around supporting them. I’d say it’s broadly analogous to having a neurodivergent kid, who unfortunately can suffer from abuse and neglect due to their condition.
