Actually though yeah, it must have been soul crushing for the kids' parents to learn that something went wrong and their child wasn't coming back. The good parents must have been so proud and trusted that even if they didn't win, they'd at least return home. Like that's motivation enough to distrust the entire monarchy, even if they didn't have anything to do with their disappearance. Maybe if there's a prequel side story they could go into it, but it isn't necessary

So the problem is that he doesn't fit into the posh aesthetic and not that the 13 year old mistress is adopting a 1000 year old 5 year old? Like, kids play pretend all the time, but if they actually really cared about her, they'd be questioning how long they'd continue going on for and how suitors might not be into a mom (and then they'd just have to learn to get over that after learning she's serious about it). Them thinking he'd scare off suitors just means those guys weren't good enough for Patty anyways

On the suitor thing, as we've seen in this chapter, she was probably rejecting any and all offers anyways. Kinda hard for a potential candidate to outclass her beloved Gash, the actual king.

Whether her crush has any future is another story entirely, though...

WOW... this chapter gave us a lot.

There are a lot of things that were left open in the first series, but considering everything, I just accepted they would never be answered, but here we are.

Anyway, first... so Patty is from a noble family; not only that... her family has an elemental dragon too, I am impressed.

With Gash's past, we know demon society isn't perfect, be it a lack of good administration or simply the many challenges that come with a race with magic and different tribes; some will be strong, others... not so much... this actually brings into question the politics of mamodo society.

I understood being chosen as a candidate to be king was a big deal and clearly was something outside even the royalty's direct control... but considering there were clear favorites to win and their connections to powerful clans... heck, Leo's clan sent a literal WEAPONIZED MEGA KAIJU to help him... the tournament wasn't exactly fair.

Second... we are getting a glimpse into the core of the mamodo world... and I am so overwhelmed I don't even know what to say.

Mamodo life cycle seems to be... well... Gash's father was alive when the new tournament was announced... he was a thousand years old or more, and Patty's father said he took almost three centuries to make a contract with their dragon.

They live for a LONG of time... and the way they mature is pretty unique too... There were a lot of mamodo children that I would never think were kids.

I think most people don't even think too much about the whole "mother and son" thing going on with Patty and Belgim... the maids' comments sounded more about his specific tribe, still not cool.

And the suitors... clearly Patty hasn't gotten over Gash... most probably she is kicking them out, and after she contracted with that dragon... that certainly was a mean kick.

This story sequel introduces a lot of mega structures. I hope there will be adaptations to other media in the future. The world expanded a lot

I imagine this sequel series is going to really get into all the potential future plots-threads Raiku set-up in the final Gash Cafe chapter he made with Gash's father and the Mamodo Spell Book.

Especially since it was never fully clarified who truly has the authority over who forces Mamodo kids like Kolulu to fight in the battle to become king every 1000 years, with the Gash Cafe chapter showing how Dauwan Bell doesn't really approve of the battling process himself.
