This whole country 100% needs to be destroyed if no one believes him because that would mean the incompetence starts from the top :shamihuh:

Also pleaseeeeeeee for the love of god, stop acting like your a NORMAL dude MC, I really hope he realizes quick that he's OP knowing that he solo defended and even beat 50+ dudes

But yea who am I kidding it usually NEVER goes that route :angery:

given the setup, I wouldn't get my hopes up. He will probably remain as dense as the hardest metal. What I hate about this trope is how easy it is to mess it up and end with something annoying rather than pleasant to watch/read.

He likes it in the prison. This would make for a funny gimmick: I Used To Be a Mercenary Soldier, but It Was Painful, So Now I’m a NEET in Prison. Beautiful Heroines, Please Don't Make Me W*rk Again!
This isn't like an isekai where the MC has a good reason for not knowing what's normal. The MC should be well aware of what's normal and what isn't. :pout:
He's a 'traveler' so he's not from around there. Possibly a former adventurer - those guys tend to have a poor understanding of their strength. Also, he was alone all throughout his deployment. He's obviously naturally ignorant, but never had a chance to know better.
The only thing worse than a partial chapter is a partial first chapter.
It could be even worse if there are multiple parts to this very chapter...

Really reaching with these kinds of starts, I get it needs to be absurd to add to hooks and reasons for why the mc has to move and get out of there but Im really tired of these "kingdoms" lasting more than a single year when every single sentient being with power has far below room temp IQ and yet any "good person" is oh so powerless to fix it. Not really about this series specifically just the trope in general where I might as well skip the first 3 chapters since not a single thing is going to matter and will be brough up again.

This seems extremely generic but if the author can add a interesting twist to it it'll be a mildly fun read.

This is exactly how you dont start a work. For this blackmailed/kicked out stories i was skip the first half of chapter one and go right to the ok lets move on, but this half chapter like doesn't even get to that point. It would be like posting the first chapter of goblin slayer just as the women were getting raped by the goblins, and expecting anyone to return.

Instead of giving us one page at the front that shows what happens like a day or two later when he meets the half elf girl, how about you do one full chapter that instead ends with that scene in real time.

Kind of reminds me of those manhuas that always have a chapter zero that basically gives you a summary of the first 100 chapters, except we dont get that here, just one scene where he sees her in cage asking to rescue her.

This guy looks like Rean Schwarzer (Cold Steel II outfit) at home.

Also, I can sort of understand the north side being underestimated and understaffed, but sending out just one person is stretching suspension of disbelief. In an "incompetent and corrupt military" story, you'd think the seemingly safe north side would be staffed by nepo babies seeking to coast through the war, instead of the expendable mercenary.

that bit about false report remind me of fallout new vegas side quest on how the ncr command center got strange report about legionare attack the border with cyborg deathclaw or smth and how some checkpoint send request for more bullets but they got gallons of water instead
