The art is top-notch, and the protagonists are appealing. But the story paints-by-numbers, and the butt-hangers are really annoying.
This is also one of the rare novels where the light novel crashed and burned years ago but the manga fluorished. For an isekai, the world and the art are what truly delivers.

They've finally released an anime of this one.

The studio went way overboard with all the camera angle bullshit. Parts of it felt like I was looking at a PC Benchmark.

I cried a little when I saw that GoHands was going to make the anime.

Tears of joy, or regret? :lul: It could go either way depending on how you feel about their art style.

When Elma is being stared down by Gowan at the end of Ep2/beginning of Ep3, I think they intended for Elma to be intimidated, but to me it looks like he's desperately trying not to laugh in Gowan's face because of his ridiculous behavior.

Also, end of Ep3/Beginning of Ep4... they gave the Mad Head wiggly teeth. If the teeth also hooked inwards so you couldn't escape being slowly pulled in and eaten once it bites you then it'd be a lot scarier... but they made the wiggly teeth face outwards... There's not really any point in them being wiggly if they're facing outwards. (I guess it looks scary to children tho?)

I'm still enjoying the anime... even if there's occasionally some parts I feel would have been better if done differently.

Tears of regret; I really love this series so it hurt watching the trailers.

Tears of regret
This week's episode has me in 100% agreement.

I was tolerating a lot of the silly artstyle choices, and excessive cgi... but the multiple flashbacks to an already annoying long argument that he happened to be eavesdropping was offensive. It's like they think my time is worth so little they can just waste it however they please.

I stopped watching the anime after episode 3. It was just full of filler, like long panning shots of Elma’s wavy hair and repeated recaps. They had one character waist a minute to grunt three times, then repeated the scene as a recap twice 🤪

It’s like every episode was 10 minutes of original content, 15 minutes of rehash. They must have blown their budget on the graphics, which are georgeous.
