Honestly, that’s what a lot of countries do when it comes to conflicts. When the people are angry about life and wanted to fight the government, the ruling class turn their attention to a supposedly bigger threat outside and make everyone believe that working together is more important than fighting on the inside. Then the ruling class gets an easy way to mitigate the inside conflicts and stall the inevitable consequences until further notice, and deal with the outside forces easy. It’s a win-win. (Which means winning twice~)

By the same logic, the ruling class could also turn the people against each other once in a while, keeping them busy and believing that the danger within them is more important than the ruling class, but still keep the faith that they can live together, so society won’t crumble. It keeps them busy and tired, while the ruling class can just watch the show, and weaken them enough to take them out when the time is right. For Marie, it just means turning the girls against each other, easy since they all love her so much.

But that would require far too many political brain cells for our dear Queen Marie who put all her skill points on charisma, having lesbian sex and sneaking around like a little roach, eh?
