The JP rice supremacy there's different kinds of rice out there and different colors Maybe they could also call it something else to not draw attention from them since Ochibi prolly isn't ruthless enough to secretly poison them or something altho they'd prolly be branded as even worse even if no one could prove it lol

At least distribute a ton of rice "seeds"(?) or some books/manual for planting methods or so unless farmers would be too afraid to "rebel" against the church versus greedy merchants bold enough to "defy" them if not like the towns guild hosting/having a feast/potluck once a month or like distributing rice cookers to restaurants bc you can tech cook more stuff inside besides that
