Funfact: Did anyone realize it? Actually, similar cover illustration (obviously with same characters) has already shown long time ago from fkin' volume 7 then vol 8, 9, and 15 now. I believe those cover illustration characters are the same characters as this very exact chapter, CMIIW.

Problematic princely actions aside, this could actually be a decent start to a mid-tier fantasy romcom/faux drama. FMC seems like she could be a lot of fun with the whole boozing with the commoners schtick.

Poor butler-san needs a bigger role too. I was kinda hoping there'd be a flag switcharoo for him.

This one's a miss...

The creepy ass ML's absolutely no good, and the FL was just forced to get with him. In another (better) story in this anthology, he would be the nuisance she escapes from.

As a short story in its own right I think it's okay, but specifically as a villainess story in a villainess anthology series it's really weak. All we got is "there are some rumors among the nobles that you're a villainess" and even that got immediately softened with "everybody else still loves you though". You could have cut that line and the story would have no connection to the villainess series whatsoever, it's so flimsy.

This premise could've been a lot stronger with some small changes - for example, if they leaned more on the military dominance being a villainous act (like if even the common people were terrified of her) or if the rush to get the noble title was painted as this evil commoner impatiently grasping for power.

This oneshot was good. It wasn't my favorite, and I don't want to see this story serialized, but it had a proper introduction, a plot, and a conclusion, and the artstyle was appealing.

we've gone so advanced that we only get mere rumors of villainy.... well, thanks for the translation nonetheless!!

I don't like how the prince said HE set up the duke with a fiancee himself so that he can't/won't marry the girl.

I know yandere/manipulative types are popular in manga, but I don't vibe this one.

This one annoys me because it actually had the potential to be an interesting twist on the villainess genre.

Like MC isn't a villainess shoujo girl but she is a character who would show up in a romance story as an antagonist?

ML and FL finally get together but then this random girl shows up out of nowhere claiming to be ML's fiancee or some shit <- that's her! MC is her!

If you rearranged the scenes where she's trying to get the title and switched out the patronizing scumbag ML that could be a pretty good story.

Glad to see this continuing to get translated, sad that this chapter was a trainwreck. I'm obviously far from alone on that.

Writing-wise it seemed really awkward. We get Edwin introduced near the start, he seems like he'll be an important character, he even proposes to marry Bridget...and then that's it, he falls out of the story completely. It's like the writer was setting up a harem for Briget but swerved because a one-shot doesn't have enough time.

The prince being a manipulative asshole who actually destroyed Bridget's dreams is then supposed to be the character we're happy she gets with? Other than the fact that she respected him as a fighter (and pretty much only that) there was no chemistry between them. And she just gets railroaded--montaged, really--into marrying him...

Like I guess we're supposed to see this as a good end because now she gets to be queen? But she never wanted that. The only reason she even wanted to be anything but a commoner was to marry her crush, who isn't this guy.

In summary, we see a man manipulate everything around a woman to destroy her hopeful romance and force her into a life she never wanted to be in, and the story wants us to treat this as a fairytale ending.

Absolutely one of the least satisfying stories in this series, perhaps to the point of being outright misogynistic. Are the mangaka okay?? 😔

Joining the train of "Thanks for the translation! But my god did this one suck."

No villainess content. Rapey. Misogynistic. This belongs in the Yandere anthology, not here o_O
