So the AI has another mission but we still don't know what said mission is. It could be the repopulation of humanity from stored dna or something else. Whatever the purpose is though it would have to be something that has value even if the rest of humanity would never encounter it for another billion years given the time difference we're working with here.

The Kemo-hito cultists are seizing this opportunity to continue their 'evolution' based on what we saw in their legends. We don't know if this is even similar to what went down back then but it is clear that this dark side of the kemo will draw the whole race into conflict for their goals if needs be.
