Guess Souma had a thing for her in some capacity, but has realised that he's got *no shot. Which, avoids any "triangle" business on the part of the narrative, at least from the reader's perspective.
That all assumes that Mizuno figures out whether he has actual romantic feelings for Wakao, and manages to act on them. He's been caring less and less about seeing her face/expressions since the Festival (when he got the silhouette of her profile in the fireworks lighting), and Wakao's feelings are heavily implied in wanting to include Mizuno in every "for Youth!" activity she endeavors upon.
All that said, not too many "youth! tropes" left on the list, now that we're into Christmas stuff. Given how big Xmas is for couples in Japan, and with Souma's POV solidifying his place in all of this with respect to Wakao and Mizuno, I wonder if there'll be an actual push to see romance bloom between the two leads before leaving this portion of the year in-story.

God damn she's such a beauty when she's blushing.
Gosh, it's so cool that we finally get a Wakao face reveal from someone else's perspective- shake-ups like this are what keep this concept fresh and fun!
(It somewhat reminds me of the different ways we get "I am Groot" from different perspectives in the Guardians of the Galaxy movies, haha)
