The cult explicitly had built connections and networks, having some rich asshole with power in their ranks seems plausible and they already showed how shit they are. Wonder if the story will go with the cult being more of an issue through mundane means of our world trying to push Xiya to cave and join them, rather than trying to use magic from the other world as their main approach. Could be interesting.

I also had the same thought, and I’d say it’s only a matter of time before they target the little sister through whatever underhanded means they please. The cult already proved how low they’ll sink by injuring a child just to prove Xiya was the Saint, and they had no problem causing her direct harm, so what’s the little sister to them besides a means to get “their Saint” to behave.
