I have to say, my heart is warmed by this comment section. I read this chapter just as it was released when no comments were made, and I dreaded what might come. MTL scanlations have such a bad rep, even when they are made with the best of intentions. But it takes all kinds of people and skills to scanlate, and no one comes into it with every skill and knowledge set. After everything that happened with Sciencey Team, it’s important to encourage new people to come into the space and develop those skills.

To avoid rumours this is what happened: Sciencey was personally doxxed by a physical letter to their home address from someone that didn’t like the fact that they were translating GyaruxGyaru now that it had received an official translation. Even though the translation itself was geoblocked in every country bar the US.

Then two other incidents happened. A member of the Sciencey Team sadly passed away, and Sciencey received another far more explicitly threatening letter. It was then decided that Sciencey would step away and that all non-official translations would be immediately dropped.

OMG they were physical letters...
Glad that they're comfortable enough to still do the official translations (I'm guessing sciencey stepped away from those as well tho? which makes sense hope they're ok)

Thanks for the scan. At least SwimmerBirb admits its MTL. That gives beginner translators the chance to team up with them. I hope they do so we can get some real writing.

Her account really is gone. That sucks so bad, whenever she picked up a series I used to treat that as a mark of quality to at least try it.

She literally was the best T_T

I enjoyed every manga she translated and was so happy to see when she picked up a new one.

If only there was a way to find the doxxer and have a "friendly" conversation about ethics.
