Sigh. "We knew each other as kids" trope had to be crammed in. This was a real meh ending.
Lots of manga tripping up their endings this year.

It was a pretty fun ride, I wish we'd have gotten another volume or two but this doesn't feel like an axe, more of a "I think I've said what I wanted and am wrapping it up".

Well, we’re getting close to the end, fellow Shinozaki-kun readers. The ending did feel a bit abrupt but this was how the artist wants to end it, we should be glad we were on the ride in the first place.

Ever since I started reading, it has always been wonderful to find a new chapter has been posted! Now, it's time to be sad to see it go.
Volume 9 was the series' high tonal point for me, even if the final three chapters are the climax of the story. I guess the secondary characters were too charismatic, so much so that they eclipsed the main pair, who in comparison were kinda... simple? In that sense, I find this ending fitting for them. Much as I like them, I can't imagine a chapter about neither Yuuyake nor Shinozaki as 39 was for Tsuzuki and Konpeito.
But maybe that's just me. Enough rambling.
