It's about time MC and his party wipe out those criminals :aquadrink:

★ In the other carriage, where Atri and Yulitia are, they also manage to kill the bandits surrounding them and quickly head toward Wolka’s location.

★ The merchant, whose name is Stafio, gets cornered and uses a scroll to activate spirit magic. The spirit magic he activates allows him to summon Glutonia.

Black hands appear from the magic circle and devour everything nearby. The members of Silvery Gray manage to avoid the reach of Glutonia’s hands, but Luely is not so lucky.

Luely cannot escape in time, and one of her arms is touched by Glutonia, leaving her badly injured. Stafio immediately moves toward Luely and takes her hostage.

★ Stafio says that Luely is one of the bandits’ accomplices because she helped them trap adventurers. Those words make Luely’s regret grow even stronger, until she falls into despair.

★ Lizel uses high-tier barrier magic to protect them from Glutonia’s attacks. Even though Glutonia’s hands can be destroyed, new hands keep appearing again and again, and their numbers keep increasing.

Wolka cannot just let Luely stay as Stafio’s hostage, so he takes a sword-drawing stance. His concentration becomes so sharp that he can only see his target, even though the target is outside the reach of his sword.

But in his heart, Wolka feels like he can reach Stafio, just like when he defeated the Grim Reaper.

Wolka successfully uses his sword-drawing technique, Silver Lightning, an attack that can cut through anything and ignore distance. The Silvery Gray party is shocked because this is the same technique Wolka used to save all of them during the fight against the Grim Reaper.

I really don't understand what the point of going along with the farce is. They have the holy saint right? And she just divined their sins? Can they not just chop some heads and be done with it or tie them up and turn them in? Sure they're holding the girl's friend hostage but it'd be safer to just beat the criminals up now, torture information out of them if needed, and to save whomever. Unless there's some long distance instant communication spell that goes off when the bad guys die or something (which either way the main characters never brought up this being a possibility). Why is the strategy to get ambushed on purpose??

Also did she say Swords woman? That'd suck. They really go overboard with making every single character female and a love interest. I actually really liked the idea of the MC just having a really good MALE friend.

The spoiler just makes it sound reckless. If the goal was to kill everyone they should've just done that in the first place with the fake adventures/merchants when they had the element of surprise. Tell the girl to go somewhere safe and they'll come back for her. Then take the carriage anyway and when the bandits jump them they do so with significantly less numbers and no dead girl for them to baby sit and have to make feel better afterwards. Why even endanger the poor girl.

And then he found an ancient elven prosthetic and beastmoded on all of the bandits with no help from his compatriots, and cemented his legacy in swordsmanship solely by his own power, completely nullifying these past several chapters of buildup.
btw these aren't spoilers from the LN or anything, I just find it funny that there's been SO MUCH buildup of the girls' obsession over him, and with the many hints that the climax of this arc will trigger the girls' protective yandere mode, it'd be funny if he just did it all on his own like a baller

I'm half expecting them tumbling down the stairs in some ruins right into some Wizard Atlantis Magitech shit and get the "Ultra moded godlike legs" like in a lot of mangas.

Justice without purpose is meaningless violence, but Justice with purpose is meaningful violence; we are bound to get to the action either way, so why not just enjoy the ride?

The point is to capture them all. Springing the trap will let them get a large number, and the hideout won't be expecting their main force to be wiped out so there's time to rescue whoever's still in there.

If they try to get information on the hideout from just these few, then there's a chance the entire hideout will escape, prisoners and all.

The guy is male btw. He really is just a bro.

Because justice is just not cool with this pacing.

They are springing the trap on the enemy because the ruffians/bandits almost certainly have another member in the city. As a group, they can't afford to risk just slaying them now if they want to get every one. If that happens, everything that they want to do is at a loss. And even if they are sure an instant communication method exists, well a dead man trigger for the spell then also works much the same way. Also, it isn't like they can instantly just torture people for information, nor is it always reliable, even with a sister who can tell the veracity of their words. So the best case scenario for the group is to spring the trap now.

Beyond that, only Sir Rauche and Anze know exactly how important they are. Revealing both their positions would be a last resort thing, particularly for Anze who wants to continue just being Anze with Wolka and the group. The rest do want to save who they can save, and Wolka and party do know their strengths and weaknesses. Anze and Rauche are also a lot stronger then just a mere sister and a knight of the church, so they have very well-founded beliefs in being able to shore up any issues, even if they do need to reveal their hand in full.

Afaik, Sir Rauche is just a guy. Every statement made by and for Rauche is just him being male. It'd be very weird if he wasn't, given later events. If it is a facade, the LN's internal thoughts for Rauche are always just him being Wolka's friend anyway.

And so, the suckers wander into the trap.

I definitely feel like this coulda been combined with the previous chapter or something. They're spending way too much time selling the girls' devotion to him that's really...empty of content? Like, it's all stuff we know so they're repeating themselves for the 5th or 6th time already.
