Looks like Nikaido is better off with her kouhai rather than still clinging to her feelings for MC :haa:

I dunno why but there's something kinda depressing about this manga for me. I get this distinct, low-key sense of melancholy or hollow distress in my gut. I noticed that depressing feeling is stronger when the main lovers are finally happy and lovey dovey. Was wondering if anyone feels the same? It's not like I'm not familiar with these kind of young love fantasy stories.

I thought it might have been how the author keeps picking on Nikaidou. But even when she's outta the picture it still feels sad. It's not like I don't see that in other manga.

TBF, the premise is that she essentially bought him, but the manga wants us to waive that off. I can get with a manga that says "no biggie" to its premise. And I thought I did so here too. But this hollow empty feeling in my gut still lingers as I read.

And you know, maybe that is the problem. (Realizing as I type)

Why am I ignoring that elephant in the room? Nikaidou is watching someone she's loved slowly become accepting to the love of the one that bought him. With big smiles every chapter.

We're 50 chapters in, and here I am giving this story a massive chance to prove it has some emotional weight. But the fluff is the entire point of the manga. It isn't going to change or suddenly feel grounded.

So this is when the third wheel gives up and go for the backup option?
Anyway, I hope the author isn't going to skip showing us the reward in the next chapter.

People are forgetting that this is a harem novel, she's not moving on from shit and the story is far from over.

Can't believe someone felt the same about this manga as me. I've always had this uncomfortable feeling about it. The whole MC and FMC relationship is absolutely wrong, began on a totally imbalanced power dynamic and everyone just brushes it off like nothing. And it's always dealing with the shallowest of feelings when there is so much real baggage behind that no one seems to want to address.
