It’s honestly mostly the elves. If it wasn’t for them constantly draining energy from the system, the planet would’ve healed ages ago

That being said, D almost certainly knew the elves would do that and did nothing to stop them from breaking the system, since in her mind, it was up to the people of that world to deal with their own problems

Spoiler: Heavy spoilers, obviously

"The System" itself is a patch job. It was designed to gradually undo the damage that the people of this world did to the planet by abusing Ma energy, which is soul energy siphoned from the planet's own living soul. It does this by first trapping all the souls on the planet into a closed reincarnation loop (normally reincarnation happens on a universe-wide scale), allowing the souls to siphon Ma energy from each other in the form of the RPG elements, and returning the siphoned Ma energy a soul has invested into its skills (plus some extra) back into the planet's soul when the individual dies.

Unfortunately, the number one person most responsible for abusing Ma energy before the System had to be set up was Potimas, and when D set up the System she thought it'd be funny to not only let him live, but forbid Guli (who she appointed as an Administrator of the System) from just killing him personally. So Potimas continues to abuse Ma energy, undermining the functionality of the System.

Planet is being destroyed from the inside out due to abuse of its life sustaining energy mostly dickhead elves
throw in a patch job of a fix that is the system because why should you be able to remove the problem, wheres the fun in that
patch job still gets abused and even more
make it taboo to know whats really going yet you still expect the people to fix it
elves still doing their thing because its forbidden to just nuke them off the face of the world
gets so bad the goddess decides to be the battery to keep the world going
fuck this "world building" is shit and pissed me off the more the real workings got revealed as I read
nothing in that world should be allowed continued existence the elves, the demons, the monsters, the human, the gods and not the planet not a fucking thing just delete it all

Nah, more like that scene in all movies where the paramedic tells you to apply pressure to your gaping wound, until help arrives, so that you don't bleed to death, but the person keeps taking the bandage off to see if it's gonna be a badass scar and poking their fingers into it to make the tear look more like a Harry Potter lightning bolt.
