I like the direction this took. His rigid personality and focus are core tenets of his character that shouldn't be whipped away without any effort. He should be steadily broken down over time.

Interesting direction to take the story, I like it. Gives Arata more agency in what he wants instead of being dragged around by the Tanuki.

The cheek to ask if he's out of his mind after threatening and pushing him around so much. He doesn't owe them shit and he's not a threat because nobody would even believe him if he talked about tanuki people's existence, yet for some reason he gets treated with prejudice and hostility just because he's a human who happens to see them. Why would he want anything to do with them after that???I hope they explain why they act like this because so far it looks like tanuki racism on humans.
