And your alternative proposal is what?
You cannot seriously be seeing someone repeatedly yearn to be a girl - explicitly wanting to be forced/pushed/encouraged into such - and think "yeah, what they need is to never even consider pursuing hormone therapy and transition.".
Be fucking for real.
And what if the author was in the middle of Saudi Arabia or the UAE? Or somewhere else where outwardly being LGBT can lead to extreme harm or death? Don't get mad at me for your unwillingness to consider other people's life situations when pushing them to do something that might be more risky for them than it is for you. (were you even aware of the flag on the main comic page is Hong Kong's in the first place?)
And of course, like anyone else deep in privilege on a global scale, you get mad at the person pointing out the problem than saving that anger for the problem itself. It's a lot easier to blow up at me than it is to both research Hong Kong's safety levels for LGBTQIA+ people and give someone a considered plan. Or you know, at least temperature check on how interested they might be. At the bare minimum take the time to find out what misinformation they might've been exposed to and correcting it, because there's a lot out there. There's an order of operations in recommending transition. Being loud and pushing past these checks while banging a tautological drum makes you only so much better than the people who assigned you your birth gender to begin with.
You think I'm happy that being closeted is required for some people to survive in some places even here in the USA, even fully knowing the increased trans suicide rates? You think I LIKE this status quo? No. But you have to deal with the world you're living in, not carry on like you're already in the world you want to be living in. Otherwise you won't be able to lay the groundwork for the better world to happen.
And for Tiresias's sake have some empathy/consideration for people in certain parts of the world who will likely go their whole lives without being able to safely transition.
EDIT: As it turns out, Hong Kong is pretty progressive and I shared something neat on a post further down. But still, I beg people to keep a global mindset.
