Point: Plot twist after plot twist keeps coming in this volume. Satoshi and the four heroines turn out to still not be fully free from Love or Dead. Hibise and Sano are actually the two writers behind the game, each trying to win over the person they love. After Sano gets killed, a 5th route forces Shino, Shuna, Satsuki, and Reine to die and move on to the next world with no memories. Satoshi chooses to die alongside Hibise so he can follow them back to their high school days. But Sano also shows up with his old memories intact, determined to claim all the heroines for himself. Now Satoshi, with Hibise's help, wants to destroy Love or Dead for good.

★ It's summer, right as college finals wrap up. Walking out of campus with Hibise, who's already done with her exams while Satoshi still has one left, she excitedly invites him out for celebratory drinks. He turns her down, still exhausted from her showing up the night before demanding math tutoring and basically stealing his sleep. She shows zero remorse, treating "studying" as just an excuse to be near him.
★ Hibise wears glasses she doesn't actually need, more of a lucky charm than anything. Their cheerful exchange looks like a normal senior junior chat, but their relationship's just been through something huge.
★ About two weeks earlier, Satoshi got suspicious Hibise was directly tied to the Love or Dead mystery, since she knew things she shouldn't after the "world's forcing power" wiped everyone's memories. After hearing her out, though, he realized she'd been a victim of that world too.
★ Back in high school, she'd stuck by him through his fear of death, confessed her feelings, been through everything with him, but all of Satoshi's memories of her got erased. When they met again, he treated her like a stranger. He can't force those memories back, and doesn't want to push her away either, so he tells her to do whatever she wants. Hibise decides she'll chase him all over again from scratch, no matter how annoyed he gets.
★ While she's talking about plans to celebrate his recovery, Satsuki, Reine, Shuna, and Shino show up. Satsuki grabs and restrains her, reminding her she's only tolerated as Satoshi's friend, one percent pity, one percent for his sake, ninety eight percent pure generosity on their part.
★ They have good reason to keep suspecting her, she'd once challenged them for a spot by his side and failed so badly she had to apologize on her knees. Since then she's allowed to visit, just never as his girlfriend. But she shows up almost daily, eating into their time with him. Shino calls it flat out stealing someone else's partner. Satsuki warns they won't stay quiet if Hibise crosses the line.
★ Turns out none of the four actually took their exams, graduating doesn't matter to them, what they want is to just keep living with Satoshi forever, they'd honestly prefer he drop out and lock himself away with them instead.
★ They suggest a mountain inn trip to celebrate his recovery. Before he decides, Satsuki kisses him and slips sleeping pills into his mouth. The last thing he sees before blacking out is their satisfied faces.
★ He dreams himself lying on the road outside his old high school, right arm injured, all four heroines staring down at him with cold, judgmental eyes, like he's about to be thrown away. He reaches for something despite the pain, Satsuki asks what he's looking for, but he wakes up before answering, the dream fading into an uneasy feeling he can't explain.
★ He wakes up already at a traditional inn, realizing the "trip" never actually gave him a choice, they'd drugged and dragged him there. Hibise's there too, tied to a pole facing him, brought specifically so the four heroines can show her the difference in status, refusing to accept that her high school bond with Satoshi means anything more just because it came first.
★ Kidnapped and restrained, Satoshi watches Satsuki, Reine, Shuna, and Shino start having sex with him right in front of Hibise. He resists at first but eventually gives in, holding them close and enjoying it too. It goes all night into the morning, leaving him totally drained, like Hibise says, burned down to white ash. Even the girls admit they went overboard.
★ They press Hibise again to give up, promising she can still stick around if she accepts being just a friend. She refuses, vowing she'll flip the script someday and prove her bond with Satoshi runs deeper than they think. Flustered, she blurts that maybe they should keep sleeping with him so she can "learn how it's done," which makes them suspect she secretly enjoys watching. She denies it, but her reflection shows embarrassment, near tears, and excitement all at once, she can't look away either.
★ After that, the four plan to swim at the river, on Shinonome property so there's basically no other tourists. Satoshi's out cold, so Hibise fakes a stomachache to stay behind, sending the others ahead. Once alone, she leans in to kiss his sleeping face, but Reine's voice stops her, she'd come back for a forgotten book. Hibise claims she needed the bathroom, but Reine points out it's in the lobby, the others had already caught the lie and rock paper scissored who'd drag her to the river.
★ Annoyed, Hibise retaliates by mimicking clingy Reine, revealing the usually cold girl actually loves asking for kisses, refuses sleeping far from Satoshi, and talks in a baby voice around people she's closest with. Hibise also exposes that Reine secretly adores the other three, complimenting sleeping Satsuki's face and kissing her, loving Shuna's soft body, treating Shino like a cute doll. Reine turns red trying to shut her up.
★ They chase each other until Reine pins her down. Cornered, Hibise accidentally calls her "Rei-nee," a name that stops them both cold, Reine never lets anyone that close, yet weirdly it doesn't anger her, just triggers unexplainable familiarity. Reine asks about their past, Hibise backpedals claiming it was a slip. Reine doesn't fully believe her, still sees her as an enemy, but admits she can't truly hate her either, even offering friendship, though never girlfriend status. Hibise refuses, insisting she only wants Satoshi. Reine says she's cute anyway and asks to kiss her, panicking Hibise since she wants to save her first kiss for Satoshi.
★ Satoshi wakes up right as they're super close, misreads it as Reine preferring Hibise, and looking lonely, says he doesn't mind them getting close but asks Reine not to leave him. That misunderstanding triggers her possessive side, declaring she only loves Satoshi and dragging him back into sex to prove it, even though he hasn't recovered from earlier.
★ Hibise finally gets taken to the river. Satsuki, waiting in a white bikini, asks why she looks upset, and hears Reine drained Satoshi's stamina again, breaking their agreement to let him rest. Once alone with Hibise, Satsuki notices Reine's guard dropped and wants to know why, but shifts to something else entirely, that Hibise knows who wrote LoD but never told Satoshi.
★ Hibise claims the search for that "person" is just an excuse to keep spending time with him, since being forgotten, LoD's the only reason he's still willing to hang out with her. Not entirely a lie, but she's still hiding the important part. Satsuki warns she'll destroy her if she touches Satoshi, then hits her insecurity by asking where she actually ranks among his four women, Reine's prettier, Shuna's gentler, Shino's smarter, calling Satsuki just ordinary, only ahead because she knew Sano longest. It hits a nerve, Satsuki's always feared being the most unremarkable, but fires back that Hibise herself got rejected despite knowing him even longer. Their fight turns into mutual mockery.
★ Hibise accuses her of gaining weight, Satsuki dares her to check, she pinches hard but finds nothing until it actually hurts. Satsuki retaliates gripping her waist, claiming Hibise's body's actually softer. When Satsuki blows on her ear, Hibise reacts hard, flustered enough to accidentally call her "Satsuki-chan," another forgotten nickname from their past. Before Satsuki can dig further, Satoshi shows up, Hibise clings to him complaining about Satsuki, leaving another clue behind about their history.
★ Next Hibise runs into Shuna, distracted by her revealing swimsuit and gropes her chest. Shuna just smiles, giving her a few seconds before grabbing her head once the jokes get too dirty. Sitting by the river after being tossed in, their chat turns serious when Shuna says the "always kind Saint" image is just something others invented, she's done playing the personality assigned to her.
★ That reveals Shuna already suspects who Hibise is, noticing she's always known exactly how to push each heroine's buttons, when to anger them, redirect attention, or back off, wearing down their guard bit by bit. Only someone who knows their entire "profile" could do that so precisely. Shuna suspects Hibise helped create their characters, but wants to understand why she never used that knowledge to steal Satoshi from the start.
★ The talk also reveals Shuna's own change, she used to force herself to be perfectly kind, but people kept exploiting it. Living with Satoshi and the others, she chose to stop being perfect, deliberately acting spoiled and high maintenance, trusting they won't leave her over it. Hibise calls that extreme, saying Shuna's always been way too much, calling her "Captain Shuna," another slip revealing forbidden closeness. Shuna catches it and starts asking questions.
★ To escape, Hibise yells for Satoshi and rats out Shuna's massive gambling losses and in game overspending. He hears everything nearby and scolds her, letting Hibise slip away to find Shino.
★ Upstream, she finds a ten meter waterfall where Shino's meditating naked, feeling swimsuits block her from nature. Hibise's about to tell her to dress when Shino throws a knife past her face, cutting some hair, only to reveal she'd just saved her from a venomous snake behind her. Shino kills it calmly to make a stamina potion for Satoshi, treating naked snake killing in the mountains like a normal Tuesday.
★ Once dressed, their talk turns heavier. Shino asks if killing "that thing" was a mistake, and whether killing Hibise too would solve everything. Realizing she can't fool Shino, Hibise admits she and someone else, in a past life, created these characters. Shino counters there's no way to know who came first, whether they created her, or just copied the real Shino.
★ Shino also confirms she's the one who directly killed Sano, since his existence would keep threatening Satoshi and dragging them back into LoD. She chose to be the killer, believing she's the most capable of carrying that guilt without cracking, not wanting Satsuki, Reine, or Shuna to bear it since they're "too human" and might slip up when emotional. She sees herself as the least human of them all.
★ Asked if she prefers being alone, Shino says the other three matter deeply, but she still sees them as people to protect rather than true equals, even Satoshi, since his edge comes from past life knowledge while she believes her own genius stands on its own. Knowing exactly who Hibise is and how dangerous she could be, Shino doesn't plan to kill her, understanding her death wouldn't stop the world's power anyway, choosing to just watch instead. She shifts back to the potion talk and pulls Satoshi into sex the moment he and Shuna arrive, forcing Hibise to watch again.
★ The trip reveals all four heroines feel a strange connection to Hibise, no shared memories, yet their bodies and emotions react like she'd once been part of the group, while she keeps trying to play the rival role, unconsciously slipping into old nicknames anyway.
★ Afterward, Satoshi keeps investigating who created LoD, since the game mirrors their real lives too closely, same looks, personalities, events, relationships, only the names differ. He notices only Hibise stays unaffected by the world's memory wiping power, which leads him to suspect she's the writer standing outside the rules.
★ At his apartment, he asks if she still wants to find the long missing Sano. She says that's not really important, and he directly calls her the LoD writer, shocking her enough to drop her phone. He explains only someone watching them up close could write something this detailed, and only an unaffected observer could be a creator.
★ Hibise finally confesses, taking him to a park before the girls get home, and shows him a notebook written in his own handwriting. It's a full LoD walkthrough, affection triggers, event timing, and the path to the harem route, a "guidebook" he'd once given her, which she used as material for writing Love or Dead.
