Interesting idea. My take was that the headache came from lying to jude and the rest of the investigator (or refusing to go with them), with the collar causing intense pain for disobedience

Perhaps she overclocked? I know that some fantasy settings allow using HP as mana if you pushed your magic past the empty mana tank.

If her magic was that versatile she should have also just closed the mouth of the cave entirely and just made a secret entrance. That way all the perception inhibitors and illusions would be mostly backup and less likely to be detected.

Ah good catch. I went back and double checked the raw just to be sure and it definitely says choke so yeah, it’s probably not the collar unless wizard dude is just completely wrong about how those things work (very unlikely).

Oooh! His face reminded me of something, so I went back to Chapter 1 to make sure, and yep, we already have (partially) seen Edogawa! He was the junior that tried to save her when she died in Japan! (Also, the translation accidentally used feminine pronouns, but that’s probably because raw didn’t have any, and the translator had to make a complete random guess, not expecting this to come back later. XD )

Yeah, makes sense that the investigators are returning. They do have the duty to track the "bandits" that broke into the villa, but the information that the neighbouring nation is kidnapping citizens and using them as slaves is a way more pressing issue.
