I think the LN also revealed Avril’s parents’ fates as well. I might be remembering it wrong since it’s been a while since I’ve read it but:

The stepmother is sent to a convent and the father ends up living in a shack in the countryside. I might be wrong tho so don't be afraid to correct me.

It kind of feels like there's little point in this series continuing from here; the main hook of the series (the wedding and what happened) has been resolved, the MCs have pledged their love to each other, the FMC's family has been punished, the FMC's territory's economic situation has been resolved... there's really nowhere else to go, beyond making up some new contrived rubbish for them to suffer through. :thonk:

A lot of rofan manga will seemingly rap up the plot, but because they're still being serialized they have to come up with some way to continue the story with some incredibly contrived BS, and the quality plummets. Usually a really forced love rival out of nowhere.

People are forgetting there's still plenty of plot to go. I'm not sure what Lawrence is going to ask but it was clear we'd eventually go to the Duke's territory and meet the stepmom. Again, in Ch1 Avril deduces only the Duke would have reluctantly left his territory for the Royal Capital.

And more importantly this can only end when we see their kids!!

nauurr I'm not interested in whatever favor Lawrence is going to ask for them unless it brings them closer together

I was expecting this to be the end and I'm happy to see it isn't.

It's weird people are complaining. Isn't the usual complaint that a story ends right after the characters get together? Like we want to actually get some payoff and see them enjoy life together.

Further developments don't have to be about a crack in the romance. They can be about other things now built around the core of a solid romance.

Complaints that the story should end now are exactly why so many romance stories involve endless miscommunication to ensure the main characters don't resolve things with each other, because the author is worried that if they get together people will stop being interested.

It's you people, who say this shouldn't continue, who are the reason so many romance protagonists are forced to be idiots and not work anything out. You're dragging us all down.

I'm surprised Corina hasn't been assigned under a strict maid or someone with a grudge against her. I mean, I bet there are plenty of ladies out there that would "supervise" her for free.

I lowkey love how they portrayed Avril's feelings about Corina. She's lived with Corina for several years and got used to being diminished and mistreated. It became ''her normal''. She's grown apathetic to Corina and her doings. The fact that she feels no anger or resentment, but just apathy, is somehow both amazing and worrying. This is how traumatized children/adults might react to bad treatment and those who mistreated them.
The fact that what worried Avril more than being tied up was Corina's plan being full of flaws, and even tried to tell that to her, shows how much she's been used to this.

It's rare to see a series portraying some sort of apathy as a way of mental selfdefense, but I love when it happens. Even tho this series didn't really go into the psychological aspect of it.
