Hes not wrong in that it will appeal to more people if its that much harder, the problem is assuming the audience can recognise that to begin with
I straight up don't agree with what he's saying. From my experience watching cooking shows rooting for people tends to be the main draw, especially in the tension of "is this the week where my fave looses?"

Hes basically just cutting down on weeks worth of hype.

Yeah. Rushing it means the audience doesn't build any connection to the rest of the contestants. Their fave might have been kicked out but they'll still watch because they're rooting for somebody else now. A lot of the time its wanting somebody to not win :dogkek:

I hope the "solution" to this chapter's puzzle is for them to use English to appeal to a much larger audience. That would be fun to watch, AND biting social commentary about the Olds of Japan underestimating the rest of the world.

I expect way fewer people to drop out than the old man expects but also not have the perfect solution to have everyone stay, it's still a show, if nothing else, Junna is probably going to figure out how many people were originally meant to drop out and arrange it so that only that number drops out.

...Or she gets so full of spite she makes the impossible happen and everyone gets one extra round, also possible, but i am betting on things not going that well.
