Hmm... I don't remember him being this bad in the novel. I think they condensed some of his more mad scientist's moments to make MC winning him over a lot more sweeter.
I think he only started making conjectures the more he looked after Murasaki and that one knights relationship- supporting the odd couple on the premise that they might create a demon
