there is some weird going on with how her parent drawn in earlier chapter, the way that her father shook when magnolia buys her freedom, how the mother looks so hurt when magnolia says goodbye. even though it doesnt excuse how they treat magnolia, i believe thay have their own reason, especially the dad seems to hate royal family and seems to have premonition that magnolia gonna be used by the royals for something far more evil (that why originally he want to marry off magnolia to some low ranking noble far from capitals)

NGL, other then the father's distaste of the royal family and his paranoid premonition, I can't say I agree with much else of the above. In the scene where Magnolia buys herself out, it feels like the father is blindsided by how articulate and well spoken she is. And is further shaken by how dispassionately she describes her treatment and then purchases herself.

As for the frivolous twit who is her mother, I see nothing but disdain and disgust. The only time she remotely shows pain or emotional distress is in response to her husband yelling at her. Then after hiding behind him promptly goes back to glaring at Magnolia. And the response to Magnolia purchasing herself, her mother spouts more venom. So no, the only thoughts in mummy dearest head are disgust and confusion as to why anyone would pay so much attention to a flawed nobody.
