You see... the difference between true villainess and you is that true villainess are smart. They will think carefully, plan carefully and smite down the people who oppose them with pride and elegance.

And it seems that this girl didn't had enough shame already, she is begging for more and it will be so good to see her downfall at the end. :smugchisato:

What is the king like if the princess is such a snake? I would almost like to say a slut because generally speaking the moral expectations for a princess should be extremely high. She's basically the most valuable woman for a political marriage in the kingdom. The exception and possibly more valuable woman could appear if it's a country where only male children can inherit a noble title. In such a case if there was a noble family without a male heir, a dude marrying into that family would be the next one to hold the family's title and lands. But in any case, high nobility or foreign royals/nobles would be less interested in a princess who's known to hunt men on her free time. Historically, and usually also in fiction, there has been no gender equality here because a prince seen frolicking with women wouldn't be such a big deal, unless he managed to make a random woman pregnant or make too big promises.

What's the difference between their "fake", and any other political, engagement? They're engaged because it's convenient to each other? So what? :pout:
Also, more importantly, they're both okay with this arrangement. Rufus wouldn't want to be separated from Rosalie, and Rosalie will likely want to support Rufus all the way.

You're not wrong in the characterization of most high nobles and royalty, but I'm fairly this is the direct result of the author's ignorance of why such crassness and naked desire would be detrimental to a lady of her status and position.

Also as an aside, even on a academy campus, I find it hard to believe that royalty would be so free to move around. Sure sneaking away from ones guard detail is a staple of fiction, but it should require more planning then just walking away from the afterparty of a school duel.

@HaxtonFale

Think it's more a limiting factor of the author's knowledge. They likely are still ignorant of how high society works and that marriages of convenience and political advantage are the bread and butter of high nobility and royalty.

I might be getting confused because there are dozens of stories with this sort of premise, but isn't it fake because they're not actually going to get married? It's just a temporary arrangement to get suitors off his back so he can focus on his swordsmanship and she got the money to save her mother, and then after a few years they can go their separate ways and live their lives (except for that pesky little development of them legit falling in love with each other).

-No Rosalie, i don't want you to keep playing the role of my fiancee; i want you to be my real fiancee.- Rufus, if he put the same intensity on this that on his training. But that will give this story something to appear to a wider audience not only to the japanese's one, and that illegal

Nah, gotta milk that 'unresolved romantic tension'. I mean the whole point of it is to build up to a dramatic payoff. 'The Villainess Lives Again' is probably the best example I can think of for this being done in a satisfying way.

For someone who's not into romance, he's highly observant and considerate of his fake fiancee, caring for her safety and comfort like a natural.
