I like that this is more than just saying "gods egotistical", just the fact that he asked that question to one of his retainers and accepted her brusk answer says that he isnt just an "almighty being" i like this ambiguity.

And we now know that being a sacrifice isnt just to die is to be transformed, it can be "good" or "bad" but like the monk said it is people that decide their fates, those past sacrifices clearly have a good and respectable life.

hmm, so being a sacrifice is not the end, and they at least don't despise their current life, they even find joy in it.

Interesting change in perspective. I still wouldn't want to be a sacrifice but at least they don't hate their current life

I was just able to read the official translation of this series and as someone who loves the series so much, I just have to do a side by side comparison. (I sometimes do this to get a new perspective of what was said or what happened)

This was the official:

This was the scan's work:

I personally prefer the scan's work bc it's easier to read and the flow, for me, is better.

You can really sense the flow of time and the changing of the relationship between god and man. The impression Kuina gives if that she was offered up to serve her god out of gratitude towards the god. On the other hand by Miyo's time the meaning of that offering had changed to a 'sacrifice/death' to prevent the god's anger. In Miyo's time the god is treated as a monster to be placated and perceived as one by those who fear him.
