Just like with any other problem in your life, this one can be solved with a little bit of JavaScript. 🙂 All you have to do is to write a userscript that checks notifications, discards those on set comments and keeps others in the localstorage until you check them yourself.

...I think only uBlock Origin supports this style shenanigans. Alternatively, this could be done with a userscript or userstyles, but these too would require an addon. If it's too big, experiment with the size: from 10rem and 13rem to 8rem and 11rem, for instance.

@Plykiya makes sense. So it should be fine to use alternative readers via userscripts or addons, as long as they have the same gradual request method like the default reader or tachiyomi?

I think a better compromise is for someone to make a userscript that can embed Mangaupdates tags right onto the page (if the manga has an Mangaupdates link). Though the problem is that this isn't searchable.
