There's a note from the author in the Chinese version of this chapter to look at Mimihime's (missing) button on page 97 of Volume 4. It's a subtle detail that I missed the first time around. There are supposedly many more small details like this scattered throughout the series.

@Bairus This is just a guess, but probably around the time that the series was licensed/published in English by Kodansha USA. They use "Tephrosis" instead of "ash disease" in their volumes.
