@NorseLoki I recommend you read Freesia, another work by this author. Then, if you like it, come back and read this one. His absurdist style can be off-putting if you're not used to it, but you may find a lot to love if you push through.

Just can't really dig these death game series. Their premises are so absurd, yet they always play it completely straight. It's just too much for my suspension of disbelief to handle.

Really wish authors would put the effort in to write characters that act like actual human beings instead of dumb cartoons that exist solely to create drama and drive the plot forward regardless of whether their actions make any sense.

Writing standards for anime and manga were never high to begin with, but it's disappointing to see how much they've dropped since the proliferation of LNs and WNs.
